I disagree...

UTSA has this right. The general thought is that TXST has not properly infiltrated the San Antonio market and UTSA has not either, but now they are trying to do so with football...heck, UTSA was able to keep the UFL out of town due to some heavy hitter supporters in the political spectrum.

UTSA wants to be a step ahead of TXST and they need to take the steps necessary to remain ahead in the pecking order as they both attempt to go to FBS. I continue to use SMU and TCU for comparison. TCU wanted to stay a step ahead of SMU and have continually done so as they have left the SWC.

Though that is a bit more extreme, it's pretty similar, just as the whole La Tech leaving the SBC is when it comes to being with the directional La. schools.

Losing to TXST will not help. Building their product and having early success will help. UTSA wants to distance themselves and the way to do it is to not play them, continue to build up their name (without that other school in the mix) in the San Antonio area, etc...
