No way its all about the Wolverines! Go Blue! Hopefully this tournament is half as exciting as last years. So many upsets so many last second goals.

RIT over Denver is as big an upset as the tournament has seen, which is quite a statement even after last year

Denver had not lost consecutive games this season until last weekend at the Final Five. Just incredible

Saint Cloud State beat Northern Michigan 4-3 in 2OT.

TheValleyRaider
March 26th, 2010, 08:02 PM
2 games ending within a few minutes of each other

The drought is over for St. Cloud. Ninth time is the charm as the Huskies win their first ever NCAA Tournament game. It took Double-OT, but SCSU tops Northern Michigan and awaits the winner of Wisconsin/Vermont

The floodgates finally opened on Scrivens as UNH tops Cornell 6-2. 2 goals 26 seconds apart in the 2nd period began the scoring, and the Wildcats took control in the 3rd. New Hampshire vs. RIT for the East Regional title tomorrow

Sadly, no

Cornell was likely the ECAC's best shot at a Frozen Four team this year. Seems that streak will now go to 7 seasons xbangx xbangx xbangx

I know Yale is still there, but they got a bad draw in North Dakota, and are without their best player in Backman

Worst of both worlds. Really want that win for the conference, but would it have to be Cornell? Sigh. Still pulling hard for Eli tomorrow....

The one thing about ECAC fans is we all root for each other on the national stage, even our rivals.

As a Quinnipiac fan, I have strong dislike for Yale's hockey team, however I'll be rooting hard for them tomorrow against UND. Go Elis!

I noticed that they were often listed this year as just "Alaska" so I'm guessing they're the flagship rather than Alaska-Anchorage . I recall when Nevada-Reno did the same thing.

If my team doesn't play them, then I'll root for the Nanooks!! First trip to the NCAA Tournament and they get sent all the across the main land to Worcester! xrotatehx xbangx Talk about a culture shock!! Geez, Alaska to Worcester!! Hope they at least took them on a bus ride out toward Wachusett and Quabbin Reservoirs!!! :D

And next year they may not even have a full schedule since their conference is longer in existence and they were the only team left to not find a new conference home...this could be there last trip to the tournament for quite some time.

Game effort from the Nanooks, but BC has just enough to beat them 3-1 and move on to the Regional Final. Good effort by the Eagle defense to cut down on Alaska chances late, and a strong game from BC

I guess I missed it when the other teams all found new homes. xconfusedx xconfusedx xconfusedx xconfusedx I know the conference where UConn and Bentley play is a reduced scholarship league so Niagara wasn't going to be happy there despite being aligned with neighboring Canisius. Guess I need to go search USCHO to see what happened. Did the WCHA officially take Nebraska-Omaha and Bemidji State?

I didn't get to watch. Is the score really accurate?

Interesting note about the potential Frozen Four field. There will be members from 4 different conferences, the first time that has happened since 2003. The interesting catch is that the four conferences will be:
WCHA - Wisconsin
CCHA - Miami/Michigan
HE/ECAC - BC/Yale
Atlantic Hockey - RIT xeekx

This tournament never ceases to amaze me...

Typical UNH Hockey...blowing games in the tournament! When will it happen? Umile gets them there each and every year but he cannot get them over the hump...however, his job is as safe as anybody's. Next year should be even more disappointing since they don't seem to have direction in the goalie situation.

Can only hope Butler wins the Hobey now...

Yep, the score is an accurate reflection of the game. UNH controlled the game early, but didn't convert a couple of excellent opportunities. As the first period went on, RIT started to get going in transition and they're very good at it. Things were rolling along at 1-1 into the 2nd period when UNH clanged one off the pipe (their second clanger of the game). Instead of going in, it started a RIT rush that ended in a score. UNH did not respond well at all and forgot to play defense or take the man and RIT quickly scored two more times. Three goals in 1:34. Good night Irene.

RIT was playing with incredible energy and usually beat UNH to the loose pucks. Pretty impressive run by them especially since they beat Denver the night before. Denver was a much better team than UNH. Ten of eighteen on UNH were freshman or sophs and as you might guess, they were an inconsistent team. Still, very frustrating for it to end like this after such an impressive win over Cornell. But everything UNH did to Cornell, RIT did to UNH last night.

To add to the pain, the RIT goalie was from Greater Hartford and had a Whalers insignia on his mask!!!

Our Holy Cross brethren dislike Boston College with ample vigor and would never wish them well in Woo, so I'm going with the Elm Street Elohim. The Miami Redhawks are the seeded favorites; Michigan can't be expected to win all things at all times despite their budget, so I like the Ohioans.

TVR, you really hit the emotions with the Whaler You Tube links!! Seeing some of the farewell game highlights and hearing Brass Bonanza still brings a tear to my eye. Then watching highlights of the Whale's win over the Soviet National team brought smiles! I attended that game with an alum buddy who was home for the holidays from Europe where he was working. UNH's Cap Raeder was in goal for the Whalers who won 5-2. But my lasting memory will always be my Civil Engineer buddy looking at the roof saying "I don't get how this is working!" Guess who wasn't surprised when the roof caved in a couple of years later!!! xlolx xlolx xlolx xlolx

A football game broke out in the Northeast Regional final. BC hangs on to defeat Yale 9-7 (yes, that score is right) to advance to the Frozen Four. I would say Yale's Achillies Heel of goaltending reared its head at the inopportune time, though BC's Muse managed to surrender almost as many. The Eagles led this wild game throughout, but Yale deserves full credit for keeping at it

BC gives Hockey East a Frozen Four team for the 5th consecutive season. They get the winner of Miami-Michigan

7 years and counting for the ECAC.... :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I just don't see how BC can win two more games with their pathetic goaltender. In the Hockey East championship he gave up 6 goals as well. I think Muse is going to run out of luck sooner rather then later...

It took Double OT, and a poorly-timed whistle earlier, but Miami tops Michigan 3-2 for the last Frozen Four birth

Wisconsin-RIT
Miami-Boston College

2 of the sport's premier programs, 1 recent up-and-comer, and 1 true Cinderella

Miami reaches their 2nd Frozen Four, two in a row. They lost the Title game in OT last season
Wisconsin reaches their 12th Frozen Four, first since 2006, when they won the National Title. The Badgers have 6 Titles
Boston College reaches their 22nd Frozen Four, their 5th in the last 7 years, and first since 2008, when the won the National Title. The Eagles have 3 Titles
RIT reaches their 1st Division I Frozen Four. The Tigers though do have a rich tradition at the D-II and D-III levels, including a National Title at each

Conference Records
AHA: 2-0
HE: 3-2
WCHA: 3-3
CCHA: 3-3
ECAC: 1-2
CHA: 0-2

Wow can the refs screw Michigan anymore? I like how the ref 30 feet from the play blows the whistle one second after he cant see the puck because he is a horrible angle. Wouldn't have hurt so much if a lack of a whistle in the same situation for miami's second goal wasn't a similar situation. Cant really complain too much Michigan wasn't even suppose to make the tournament and Miami played well. I think it is going to be a really great game between BC an Miami, BC looked scary good scoring all those goal but they really need to keep them out of there own net to beat Miami.

I watched the game at sports bar and I found myself explaining to people why some love to root against Boston College, Duke and Notre Dame. I thought about it further and I discovered I really wasn't too sure why.

I was shocked at the 5-0 score. There's no way I thought BC was five goals and a shutout better than Wisky.
