Gee, I thought the big story in this schedule would have been Lehigh opening up in Iowa at Drake....

New Hampshire, Villanova, Harvard . . . I'd say their OOC plate is pretty full.

But Lehigh traveling west of Pennsylvania is an interesting story. They might not know how to do that. Will they need passports? Blood tests? Vaccinations?

Last time we did that turned out pretty good, 2003 at St. Mary's in California a 35-7 win. Prior to that was the great 2000 upset of Western Illinois in the first round of the playoffs, 37-7.xnodx

The 2003 St. Mary's game was at Goodman. Lehigh played at St. Mary's in 1998.

If i'm correct, the most western game Lafayette has EVER played was against Michigan in 1896. That game was played in Detroit. If that's not recent enough then it would be App State in 2005. And a Lafayette person is making fun of Lehigh about heading west?

We will go as far as a Trans-Bridge Lines coach can make it on a tank of diesel - no further. Lewisburg is a stretch. Thankfully, most of Lafayette's traditional opponents (Penn, Lehigh, Princeton, Fordham, Columbia) are still within walking distance of Pardsville, rendering awkward forms of mechanized travel unnecessary.

But Des Moines is a lovely choice for Lehigh. It really is. The city name's etymology (http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20030914/ENT/70323017) certainly is befitting of the Brown and White. xcoffeex

Lehigh also played at Idaho back in 93 or 94, where they took a shalacking.

The trip to DesMoines will be an educational trip for the LeHigh team. Hopefully, the team will have time to see some of the DesMoines area. Truly is beautiful if you like farm country and nature.
