During the Posey era, SU won three black college national championships, four Southwestern Athletic Conference titles and two bowl games, including the 1948 Fruit Bowl championship against San Francisco State...
During Posey’s four years at SU, the Jaguars went 46-2-2.
Posey was a four-year All-SWAC selection at running back and was the 1949 national rushing champion with 1,399 yards, according to university records.
His 1,399-yard rushing total in ’49 still stands as the highest single-season mark in school history.
Only one other player, Steve Wofford, has broken the 1,300-yard barrier. Wofford ran for 1,349 yards in 1997.
Posey’s best single-game performance came in the 1949 game against archrival, Florida A&M in Bragg Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla.
That day, Posey battered the Rattlers for 358 total yards and three touchdowns, including 100 yards on the first play of the game. xeekx xeekx xeekx xbowx RIP Odie
