The stadium looks like it will be as classy as your school is, very nice. Reminds me of Elon, on the small side but really well done.

Very nice. Looks small... smaller than Elon's stadium. I guess that's because there is no big hill for extra and overflow seating. With a NC under your belts, was an increase in attendance not expected?

Well it was not about what UR wanted in stadium size, it was about what they could get approved by the City of Richmond. The city / neighbors basically would only allow the stadium to be the same size as the current Robins Center Arena. Maybe in the future it will enlarged. There will be bleachers behind the East endzone, the one further from the camera in these pics.

How much is a suite for the season?

I think the two sides are close to the same height, though the Luxury Suite side is longer.

The size of the stadium has nothing to do with dollars. Richmond could find the money needed to give the stadium 20k seats under their couch cushions.


As someone else pointed out the issue is the neighborhood and zoning. They had to keep the stadium under a certain size to get it approved to be constructed in the neighborhood.

There will be student seating in the far end-zone that will not be part of the permanent structure.

Seating info is coming out now too. We'll start selecting seats based on donor levels and priority points at the end of April.

I know I am a bad alumni and should know this - but do we still own the property on the Reynolds Metals campus or did we get rid of it. While I am very happy that football will be on campus , seems like that Reynolds site could have been a nice alternative

This. I really think they missed the boat on not putting the stadium at the Reynolds site.

Well UR leases out the historic Reynolds Building to Phillip Morris and Altria. The structure was designed in the 60's by Bunshaft / SOM and is actually pretty cool, with grounds by Gillette. UR only owns maybe 30 or so acres there, so I am not sure there would have been room for the stadium and parking, without tearing down the building.

Looking at this overhead. UR only owns the square "doughnut" building to the upper left, with green space above and to each side, and two parking lots at the bottom corners. The large development below this building is called Reynolds Crossing and was bought from Alcoa by Reynolds Development

That also wouldn't solve the ole' off-campus conundrum which is why they were leaving city stadium in the first place.

Thanks Boston Spidey for the pictures, they acquired that property after I left and all I can remember about it was the big chain link fence and it being the last stop light before getting on 95 to go home for break. Given that space I'm gald they went through with what they did.

We currently have a Greek Theater on the other side of campus, and I would have loved to have seen a similar design at the Stadium.

Now that is something I would like to see! UR's campus is beautiful, and something like that, sure would have added class.

This is still a good looking facility, without the Greek seating!

.....and no offense....the current municipal stadium behind Cary St is a dump. Glad to see that your school decided to bring the stadium to the campus.
