LOL at the Eagle envy from "Eagle" Mick!! ;)

How about doing that by toughening admittance standards, then leading the Big Sky Conference in the number of Academic All-Conference selections because of added emphasis on graduating players who gainfully contribute to society?

Why is it that benefactors so often surface to enhance playing surfaces, weight rooms, luxury boxes, stadium expansions and the like, yet few put their names on athletic academic centers equipped with the latest technology where student athletes – what a novel term – can spend as much time as they do in the film room studying past and future opponents.

While some athletic enhancements produce needed revenue and, no doubt, help to attract “cream of the crop” athletes, I think something is severely out of balance?

Having a different color turf sets EWU in their own category...

A lot of people know about Boise State's turf and if EWU has some success in making their turf known - whether ESPN gives them some time or whatever, it will help the exposure of their program.

Sorry to necro this post, but I love the line in the article on the NCAA championship site.

Chaves said he has been assured the turf will not fade to pink, although it will turn a lighter shade of red over time.

It is so going to be a pink field in 10 years :)

If you're colorblind, my apologies in advance.

The field and stadium look great, but it's really going to pop RED when the new 78 million dollar facility gets put in place. The entire football facility is being redone in terms of locker room, film rooms, academic center for football, Football only dorms, Football coaches offices, etc.

Does the football field being red help or hurt?

One kid chose EWU over Cal and others! I think EWU is making the right moves, it has the right staff, and the red field just helps them have identity.

The players I am familiar with love it!

Eastern is putting in a new RED turf field and stadium, 78 million in upgrades all improving the football facilities. All private donations, no tax money. It will be finished in 2016.
