Thoughts?
Stinks that you build up for this huge climax and are undone by a blunder. That lighting of the Olympic cauldron was a huge mess up and then, the cauldron looks like crap to begin with - agree?
And then you have to go light the other one - that looks pretty similar - because it needs to be seen from miles around? What was that about?
Funny thing was they do it all indoors and they try emulating outdoors the whole time with the snow...
Other than that, thought they did a great job given the circumstances of the luger.
I guess Olympic opening ceremonies typically leave more to be desired...

It was okay. The ceremony dragged at times, but they all do to some extent or another
The whales along the floor were really really cool
Disappointing about the cauldron malfunctioning, but it was an interesting idea, having the 4 of them light it rather than just one person
Given it was raining there last night, having it indoors appears to have been a stroke of good fortune. I understand the bit about the flame needing to be outside for people to see, but it does make the actual lighting a bit awkward
It means the Games are open and it's Olympic time :)

By far the best part of the show xthumbsupx
I was NOT a fan of the catcalling version of their national anthem xthumbsdownx

What was that about? Unfortunately I missed the national anthem, and to me, it is the prettiest of all national anthems from a musical stand point.

Oh Canada is one of the best, it's true xnodx
But, the version sung, the girl really dragged out the English sections, which is too bad. The French part was fine, but there needed to be a slightly quicker tempo for the English stuff

Yeah also that anthem is meant to be song by the crowd. Like this-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meLpuF9UMvk They should've had that guy singing it. Goosebumps every time. As for the ceremony, some parts good, some parts not so good. Like any other I guess. Nothing's going to be as good as Beijing though.

I never realized that KD Lang had such a great voice. She looks as if someone beat her with an ugly stick, but she sure can sing.

Parts of the ceremony certainly dragged, but that is going to happen when you try to expand on maybe an hours worth of show into 3 hours...overall I thought it was good, and fairly simplistic unlike the last Olympics. I thought the last summer games were too over done and I like the taste of this much more.
I agree on the prior comment about the whales...that was spectacular.
Now its time for the games, I haven't had anything to do so I caught this afternoon's events...so far nothing the USA has ever been too competitive in. But short track is tonight and we should have a real good shot in that.
