Talley earns the award after leading the Wildcats to the program's first-ever NCAA Football National Championship. Talley was honored by the AFCA along with TCU's Gary Patterson (FBS), Northwest Missouri State's Mel Tjeerdsma (Division II), Wisconsin-Whitewater's Lance Leipold (Division III) and Sioux Falls' Kalen DeBoer (NAIA).

Talley also earned AFCA National Coach of the Year honors in 1997 and he becomes just the 17th coach to win the award twice.

One other note of interest -- a Nova alum has made a significant donation to the school, and a portion of that donation is designated to endow the salary of the head football coach.

Do we know who? That is great news for someone so deserving. Also, last night, he was named an honorary alumni. It was a great moment from a great night.

It's in the current alumni magazine. The alum is Tom Treacy. In addition to the head football coach position, the gift is also earmarked for the nursing school Center on Global Health, campus ministry, the core service requirement, and a scholarship for a graduate of his old high school in New York.

The article is in the magazine at the following link:

The correct Latin singular usage is alumnus. You guys clearly aren't ready for the Patriot League.
