They could've found out that Vince Lombardi was alive and well and named him coach. Some UT fans would still be bitching. I remeber hearing the day after they won the national championship that the game shouldn't have been so close and the coaches play-calling was suspect, e.g. You can't please everybody. Good hire, in my opinion.

Dooley was Saban's recruiting coordinator at LSU. Had two losing seasons in three years at Tech (won the Independence Bowl in 2008).

Vol fans will be pissed for a while (at least until the season starts). They open with UT-Martin before facing Oregon and Florida back-to-back at Neyland.

This is ut's "mike shula" hire. They just had to have something in place to save their recruiting class. He'll get is 3-4 years and then they'll send him packing.
