Here's the list of cities that will be part of the bid for the 2018 or 2022 US World Cup effort.

Due to FIFA's eighteen city maximum, nine host cities had to be eliminated. In alphabetical order, they are: Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Jacksonville, Oakland, Orlando, St. Louis and San Francisco.

Atlanta
San Diego
Phoenix
Dallas
Seattle
Denver
Tampa Bay
Indianapolis
Baltimore
Nashville
Kansas City
Houston
Miami
Philadelphia
Los Angeles
Washington D.C.
Boston
New York

Oh, here we go - the link.

Wow, San Fran and Oakland both eliminated. If that doesn't get the Niners (and maybe the Raiders) new stadiums, I'm not sure what will.

Surprised to see some of those eliminated given they have Philly, Baltimore and DC all in there. 3 sites 3 hours apart. xeyebrowx

Remember...the 18 cities are part of the U.S. bid, but only about 12 will actually be selected to host. There's probably SIX more cities to be eliminated!

If I had my guess, those cities would Atlanta, San Diego, Phoenix, Baltimore, Nashville and Denver...just my guestimations of course!

If Atlanta makes the next cut...

I do not think their bid has a good shot at this one. Going to be a longshot for sure, but then again - who thought Chicago would get snubbed this go around.

Chicago and Detroit are surprises among the eliminated. Wonder if Chicago was pushing the Fire's park rather than Soldier Field, which to me would be the more desirable location

Based on the list left, my best guess for the final 12 cities would be:

Phoenix
Dallas
Seattle
Indianapolis
Nashville
Kansas City
Houston
Philadelphia
Los Angeles
Washington D.C.
Boston
New York

Probably wrong, but that's the fun in guessing, right? xcoolx

I know they say Boston when they refer to any place in New England (which annoys me to no end)...but if we are lucky enough to get the Cup in one of those years, I will be so excited to head down to Gillette Stadium to watch a game!

Definitely Baltimore gone. Sorry Andy.

They might keep San Diego and drop Indy...but it is all a guessing game at this point.

Surprised Chicago and SF are out already.

My take on the final 12:

San Diego
Phoenix
Dallas
Seattle
Denver
Kansas City
Houston
Miami
Los Angeles
Washington D.C.
Boston
New York

Cut:
Indianapolis
Baltimore
Nashville
Tampa Bay
Atlanta
Philadelphia
