Jeff Conway named to Sam Houston football staff

Jeff Conway, previously associate head coach and wide receivers coach at Central Missouri University, is the first assistant named to the staff for new Sam Houston head football coach Willie Fritz.

Conway served six years on Fritz’s staff at Central Missouri as the Mules rolled up a 41-24 record including an 8-3 mark last year.

Does not look like there is a role set for Conway just yet. An offensive coordinator, perhaps? Maybe an associate head coach as well?

All that is known is that Scott Stoker (DC/LB) and Ben Beasley (Safeties) were retained from the previous staff. Stoker and Beasley worked together at NWST.

Sam Houston State football coach Willie Fritz added one more assistant to his staff, naming University of Texas quality-control coach Anthony Johnson as running backs coach.

Johnson, who played running back at Texas in the early 2000s, joins defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Scott Stocker, safeties coach Ben Beasley and wide receivers coach/recruiting coordinator Jeff Conway as members of Fritz's first-year staff at Sam Houston.
