Former Monmouth Star Austin Named To 2009 NFL Pro Bowl

Wide receiver makes it as a first year starter for the Dallas Cowboys

Former Monmouth University and current Dallas Cowboy wide receiver Miles Austin has been named to the 2009 National Football League Pro Bowl, league officials released on Tuesday.

The fourth year player has had a breakout season for the Cowboys, leading the NFC in receiving yardage (1,230 yards on a team-high 74 receptions) despite not being named a starter until week five. He’s only the sixth Cowboys receiver to score at least 10 touchdowns (11) in a season, and has 20 of the offense’ 56 total 20-plus-yard receiving gains this year. Earlier this season, Austin set the Cowboy record for reception yardage in a game, after racking up 250 yards and two touchdowns in an overtime win against Kansas City. The game against the Chiefs was his first career start. In 2006, Austin set the Cowboy record for longest kickoff return in a playoff game, when he scored on a 93 yard return against Seattle in a NFC Wildcard game.
