UNC may name new coach today.

Northern Colorado officials indicated that today could be the day they name a new head coach. Nebraska assistant Scott Downing looks to be the favorite but there are four others that might get the job. If Downing gets the job, I won't renew my season tickets and I'll reconsider my donations the NCAF. I am not down with Downing.

Something tells me that hiring Downing would not be a good move for Northern Colorado. It is amazing how many times schools look to places with big names, like Nebraska, to find coaches who are unproven as head coaches. It isn't like Nebraska has been setting the world on fire with Downing as an assistant.

The one good thing I see with Downing is that he has beeen the recruiting coordinator for Nebraska and they have been ranked fairly high in recruiting for the last couple years. He has been with three 1a teams and has a lot of connections.
