Lucas Named Coach of the Year; Four Lions Named All-Louisiana

BATON ROUGE – Southeastern Louisiana University head football coach Mike Lucas was honored Thursday as he was named Coach of the Year by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

The team was announced after a series of nominations from the football playing sports information directors and subsequent voting from a panel of LSWA members. The result was one of the most diverse teams in recent history as nine schools had at least one first team member.

Additional congrats to Mark Newbill (1st team), Rekeem Wilson (2nd team), David Ward (HM), and Simmie Yarborough (HM) for getting mention on the All-State team.

Glad to see the FCS guys getting some of the special awards this year instead of the LSUs of the world.

Lucas was deserving, though may be even more next year. Would not be surprising...

McNeese did fairly well with he offensive POY, First team RB, First Team DL and Freshman of the Year on Defense

Lucas was deserving, though may be even more next year. Would not be surprising...

If we get consistent QB play, he should...just about everything coming back plus what we'll add this recruiting cycle.

Coach Lucas is a good guy, good coach, and is very classy. Well-deserved.
