USC quarterback Carson Palmer wins the Heisman Trophy, becoming the first player from a West Coast school to receive the award since running back Marcus Allen of USC in 1981. Palmer, the all-time Pac-10 passing leader, completed nearly 63% of his passes for 3,639 yards. He passed for 32 TDs and had only 10 INTs. Iowa quarterback Brad Banks places second in the voting; Penn State running back Larry Johnson is third.
