Let me get this straight? The players voted not to practice for the next few weeks and to not go to a bowl game??
If that's true, that's a huge problem. I'm by no means a Notre Dame football fan, but any team, regardless of who it is, that would vote not to continue playing football for a few weeks doesn't have the drive or passion to be a winner. No wonder this team lost so many close games, the fact is, they may not have been good enough, but they didn't want it enough.
Clausen & Tate will go pro & they'll start fresh.
Maybe they should send a combined team from Hofstra & N'Eastern, at least those kids want to play football.

I don't have a problem with this. Matter of fact I like it. Why go to a crappy bowl... as a reward for what?

A 6-6 team doesnt deserve to go to a bowl, good for the players saying so.

I would think this indicates just as much about Weis as it does the players. If he had instilled the passion and pride in the game that is needed (especially at ND with all that history) these kids would want to charge Hell with a squirt gun to play football. Obviously it isn't that important to them...and thats on the head coach.

I think that's what they have. xnodx

You hate to be personal with players, but, what a bunch of losers.

I think there's one loser in all this and hes the one who's attacking players because they don't feel they deserve a bowl game for finishing 6-6. xcoffeex

Notre Dame also declined a bowl invite in 1996 following their loss to USC. With the loss ND finished 8-3 thus falling out of the running for at the time, a bowl coalition spot. Holtz announced he was walking away from his lifetime contract a game or two before SoCal. The players decided it would be desrepectful to send Lou out with a sub standard bowl. I miss Lou :(

Notre Dame has become irrelevant in big-time college football. Why validate the truth by accepting another irrelevant bowl bid? I don't blame the players for sparing themselves the humiliation.

pfft...ND just doesn't want to lose in a lower-tier bowl.
