Karim, SIU To Face Nation's Top Rushing Defense

The sixth-ranked Tribe (10-2) leads the Football Championship Subdivision in rushing defense, allowing an average of 50.33 yards per game. The top-ranked Salukis (11-1) come into Saturday’s second-round playoff game fourth in the country in rushing with a 232.5-yard average.
“Predominantly, we’re a run-first, and then see what the defense gives us after that,” said SIU quarterback Paul McIntosh, the team’s second-leading rusher. “We always want to establish a good, power running game. Like I said, we’ve been able to do that all year, and that’s what we’re going to try to continue to do.”
Starting tailback Deji Karim, the nation’s second-leading rusher, said Monday stats are not something that concern him. Last week against Eastern Illinois, he and McIntosh became the first players all season to rush for at least 100 yards against the Panthers’ defense. Karim went for 155 and two touchdowns, while McIntosh ran for 115 and one touchdown.
