Marc Mariani basically willed the Griz back to victory today. Between his receptions, kickoff return for a TD, and punt returns, he led the way for this miraculous comeback.
Here is Mariani's stat line today:
12 catches 171 yards 2 TDs
4 kickoff returns 178 yards 1 TD (98 yard return)
6 punt returns 40 yards

Spectacular Performance for #80 Marc Mariani. Without him the Griz would be toast. The Jacks got a lead and took Chase Reynolds out of the gameplan. Mariani and friends had to shoulder the load.

I love seeing guys from the Hi-Line in Montana do well. MM is a big time player and I'm certainly glad he gets at least one more game to showcase his talents.

I don't see how they could have a choice, even if you are correct. Show me somebody who has better numbers. xeekx

Mariani is a beast. great word to describe him, even if my only basis for the is last year title game.
And by the way, Griz, you can't tease me by going down by that much when you are located in the middle of nowhere. I have an exam on the 11th and I was all excited that we wouldn't have to go on the road (if we get through Appy) and then you went and did that.

Wonder what kind of numbers he could have put up in 4 years if he had Super Dave or one of the other great QB's we've had. He was looking frustrated in the
1st Half with the throws.
Wow what a game will be talking about that one for a long time.

Alright, I'm stealing this from egriz:
27
Career touchdown receptions by UM’s Marc Mariani, a school record. Mariani’s two TDs on Saturday moved him past Etu Molden (1999-2001), Mike Erhardt (1993-96) and Shalon Baker (1991-94), who each had 26 TDs in their careers.
2,690
Career receiving yards for Mariani. He moved past Scott Gurnsey (2,574 from 1991-94) and into second in UM history. Matt Wells had 2,733 yards from 1992-95.
5,071
Career all-purpose yards for Mariani Saturday, another UM record. Yohance Humphery had 4,997 from 1998-2001. Mariani had 389 all-purpose yards Saturday, breaking the single-game UM record of 321, by Damon Boddie against Idaho State in ’94.
1,151
Receiving yards this season for Mariani. With 1,308 in 2008, Mariani is the first Griz to have back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He has 2,690 career yards, putting him past Scott Gurnsey (2,574) into second at UM.

All in what really amounted to 2 seasons at receiver (long playoff run-driven seasons they may be), as he only had 1 TD and 15 receptions for his Fr/So years combined

I would hope he would get a shot, his size is an issue. Could catch on in special teams or make the practice squad for a team. He has talent, but they all do that go pro. I think he gets a shot at least, will be up to him to make the team. xcoffeex
