after all this ka-ka and how asu zealots and over-pompous UofR fans have stroked this topic the Elon team bus decided to turn around as there was just no hope in facing a defending national champion...... NOT........ Elon will be there, play 100% and it will take a great effort to whomever for the victory..... Go Elon!!!

Show me a picture that is not doctored. I was in the far endzone and the whole endzone was APP and when I was at the entrance endzone it was mostly APP but who cares we won and right now Elon needs to win THEIR biigest game EVER by beating Richmond.

Good Luck the hump is still in front of YOU/Elon.

Congrats to Elon's Hudgins, who is in this week's Sports Illustrated in the Faces in the Crowd section. If Elon has any chance in this game, he's gonna need to add to the already record-setting 100+ yard receiving games total.

I find this kind of funny. Richmond didn't clobber us last year. They pulled away in the second half when our players were on the sideline cramping up and unable to get an IV because our team doctor refuses to give them on the sideline, while Richmond's players were coming off the field and getting one whenever needed. It made a huge difference and I think that showed that Richmond's staff was prepared for the unbelievable heat that that game was played in while ours was not. I'm not saying that as an excuse, but giving them credit for outsmarting us. I am also not saying that we would have won that game had our players gotten IV fluids. But if fans remember the second half, our training staff was out on the field every series bringing someone off from cramping. It made a huge difference in that game.

...

Elon's d-line this year reminds me of Richmond's last year. I expect a close game and I really don't know who is going to win. Elon has a huge student and alumni base in the Richmond/DC/Baltimore area and Richmond isn't that far away from Elon, so I expect a strong showing from the alumni and student body. Good luck to the Spiders. I'm in Colorado, so I won't be able to make the game. Wish I could.

Your team coming out of the off-season was so unphysically fit that they didn't have enough IV's to satisfy them promptly. xnonono2x

Richmond, look out for that massive, motivated Elon alumni base.

Richmond's not going to blow anyone out here. It will be a major surprise if Elon wins though. Even the App State fans are trying to make this thread all about them. Seems like they're licking their chops for a Spider v. Mountaineer rematch.

Has any UR folk heard of advance ticket sales, especially amongst the students?

watching Texas v. Texas A&M last night made me smile. Both bands, and at least 8,000 A&M Students foregoing thanksgiving dinner at home to support their team.

I've heard advanced ticket sales are pretty good on the home side for general fans. Students are admitted free to all games, so no official word on that. But, I'm a student and I expect many more students to be at this game than past Thanksgiving week playoff games. Definitely not going to wow you like Texas and A&M, but I'm optimistic for a decent student crowd. No guarantees though.

Many schools will have the athletic dept pick up the tab for the students, or they will get a corp sponsor to do so. I have no idea if Richmond is doing that this year, I think last year the students paid only $5 because someone picked up the difference.

Here's to a good game. I'm picking the Spiders in a close one, 24-21; but pulling for Elon so that we can have the 'potential' of two former Lehigh coaches, who coached together when Lehigh had its great run in 1999-2004, face each other in the Finals! Yeah, one can dream... Elon and Holy Cross are at opposite sides of the brackets, so the only way Lembo can face Gilmore is for them both to reach the finals.

Since there's no TV for this game, if you're looking for detailed updates along with score and quarterly updates, I'll be blogging from the press box during the game (assuming my flight from Philly gets to Richmond on time) on the website for the Richmond student newspaper, The Collegian. Just go to urcollegian.com, it will be the top story on the front page.

That was poor coaching/game management by the Elon coaching staff.

Those calls on the drive before and not trying to get more yards at the end. Obviously their fg was not very good.

Wow that was wayyyy to close so many missed opprotunites by the offense that can't happen against App State or else we will have trouble. The one good thing I like is for the first time over the last four year App State will have to come to our place no Rock this time. I think that will even it out.

I listened to about 50-60% of the game on radio........sounds like both squads had chances to score more, but Elon had more missed opportunities (based on the radio call, and browsing the play-by-play)............now they know how VMI felt most of 2009. Congrats to UR.

I felt the kick would have been too long for him regardless, and we should have been playing for the touchdown at the start of that final 30 second drive rather than for FG positioning. Anyways, congrats to Richmond to a well-played game and best of luck against App. St. (which I probably will attend just for the heck of it).

A very ugly game in which both teams left a lot of chances on the field. Just glad to come away with the win. Elon played hard and gave themselves a chance at the W. I sat on the visitors side so my 1-yr old could run around with her grammy (we sat in a section that probably only had about 10 people in addition to the 8 in our crew). The Elon fans around us were real nice.

+1.

Elon played very well and did exactly what they had to do to have a chance to win: they didn't turn the ball over once. Richmond missed two or three possible picks by running into each other, which was almost costly.

Oh, and Hudgins is by far the best wide receiver I have ever seen at this level. I would think he could have a pretty successful NFL career. Elon played with class (except for the one late hit on Ward that wasn't called) and left it all on the field, that's all you can ask for. Lembo took credit for the loss in the post game and Hudgins immediately said it was a team loss, not just on the coaches.

One more thing: Spider fans' thoughts are with the injured Elon players, especially the special teams player who came off on the stretcher. If any Elon fans know of his status, let us know.

Whew.

Some observations from this game:
1) Elon fans turned out in greater numbers and VOLUME than expected. Good show.
2) Richmond's offense had better find its rhythm or we won't keep up with App St.
3) Sorry, W&M's defense is better than Elon's.
4) Hudgins is a beast - but seems like kind of an a$$. Even his own teammates appeared to want nothing to do with him, and he got away with two PF/UC dead ball fouls. He and McBride were jawing after many plays, he was also jawing with Elon coaches and tossing his helmet on the sideline. He did say "all the right things" after the game though. It was just kind of strange watching others' reactions to him between Elon's offensive plays.
5) Both teams left a lot of points off the board today. Richmond blew several chances to put the game away; Elon blew a few to take it away.
6) For their first FCS playoff game, Elon rep'd themselves very well. They were well prepared.

Good game Elon. See you in the first game at Robins Stadium!

PS - I found out after the game that my dad's college career ended vs. Elon (knee injury) back in the 60's. Small world for sure.

The kick at the end may have been tipped. The 27 yarder was not. If 40-45 yds is "a little long for him" we need another kicker. I know the kid feels bad, but it is a heartbreaker for everyone when the defense and offense plays their hearts out and the kicker lets you down. He missed a 27 and a 42 yarder to tie the game inside of two minutes. Elon play calling was suspect (again). It seems that when it gets crunch time we start throwing across the middle and down the field....usually to #19. And, it works, as it did today in the 4th quarter. First half, we had first and goal at the 2 yd. line, ran the same play twice, up the middle..stuffed. Then had to throw, and couldn't get it in the end zone. Throw the d*&# ball to Hudgins! Good season, disappointing end. Richmond's D and Eric Ward (running the ball) were both great. Go App St.! (did I just say that??)xeyebrowx

Kudos to Elon team and to the fans, great showing. You gave Ward a fit today, worse game I have seen him play since his freshman year. Thank goodness for our D and that our kicker has found the range again two weeks ago you would have won this one going away due to missed kicks alone.

Hope your injured players are not serious, I understand Jones was back on the sidelines so hopefully not as serious as it looked. Don't recall the name of the second player looked like an ankle to me, and glad to see we were able to get the family of Darrius (?) on the field, if I heard correctly no where nearly as serious as it looked (concussion with neck strain was what I was told -- just taking percautions).

BTW on the post game a DLman said he got his hand on the last FG attempt -- could not have gotten much on it, but apparently enough.

Both teams left way to many points on the field. Look forward to seeing you at the Robins Stadium next year.

Anyone that was watching or listening hear what happened to Darius McQueen? He was the one immobilized and taken off on a stretcher to the hospital.

Never a good sign when a player is down, all the ATCs are down working on him with coaches from both staff huddling over and both teams should genuine concern. And a crowd that seems concerned about an injury. The Richmond team and fans showed their real class with that way all that went down.

Also curious for the whistle for invalid call on that last punt for illegal call, whatever the heck that meant. Was it me or did the officiating crew never seem "in the game" today? How many picked up flags did they actually end up with?

Otherwise, great game overall. Was intense, both crowds into it and loud. Both teams pumped. Both teams making some huge plays at critical times. One of those games that you hate to be on the tail end of, but go away just saying it was a great game to watch. The football should be!

(Just a guess) It looked like the PR was signaling "poison" since the ball was coming down short, but got his arms up enough that it looked like a fair catch signal?

Agreed on the officiating. This crew was worse than most regular season crews. For instance, how do you call a face mask penalty when you don't actually see the infraction, then need an official much further from the play to come and tell you there was no penalty? How does that flag even come out of your pocket?

You would think you could get better officials for a playoff game like this. I'd also like to say I had a good view of the passes to Mellette and Hudgins before Shreiner's missed kick and I think those were both catches. They both got at least a foot down and did have possesion of the ball. But alas, that was not the call and we all know what happened there. I feel for you Adam Shreiner. Hopefully this will help you become a better kicker down the road. Congrats to the Spiders. I repeat what's already been said about the Richmond fans being polite and kind and everything. Very classy bunch of fans. I'm also glad you guys are getting a new stadium next year. Nothing against U of R Stadium, but it is definitely a stadium that has seen its better days. I can't wait to see the new stadium in our rematch. (I also think if we still had Joshua Jones the game would've been a lil different, but that's another story.)

And may I say I am still very proud of this program and what it has accomplished. Coming into the year, no one thought we'd make the run because our defense wasn't good enough or because Lembo/Elon can't win the game, etc. etc. I think we proved everyone wrong this year. And to see how far Elon has come under Lembo in his 4 years here (and my 4 as a student) is just incredible. Yes, the Richmond fans were great. I was very proud of our teams effort, the defense was relentless for both teams. As for not winning the big game....I'm still not sure that we have. Agreed on everything. Did you happen to get a good look at Sheiners first missed FG (the short one)? There seemed to be a lot of confusion around that one--the team seemed to think it was good.

Officiating xthumbsdownx When will the FCS get the dignity of having challenges or at least a review system?

As for the stadium, SO glad you guys get a new one. Ive seen high school stadiums nicer than that one. Will you get a better scoreboard to? Elon's video board was sure missed on the seriious injuries and questionable calls.

Fun game to be at but still gotta say that UR needs to give the credit to the refs for winning it for them. Both teams missed some opportunities and the play-calling made the difference. Looking forward to playing UR again next year and making a better run in the playoffs.

I was sitting right there in the visitor side on the goal line. Both guys did catch the ball, but neither could get a foot in. The first catch was out by about 5 feet. The second was much closer, but still out by about a six inches. The UR defender did a good job of taking the guys out of bounds before they could get a foot down.

The refs were pretty much awful the whole game, but they did at least get those 2 calls right.

I mean, if you want to go that route, why not air all the bad reffing laundry? 2 blown TD calls for us? or were they? They were close for sure. The lack of holding calls on your offensive line in critical spots. The one where Harris stretched out and broke the plain of the goal line, but the ref called him down poorly before was a blown call. Then Elon proceded to fail to punch it in after that. But the plane was broken before he was down. But all that would have done was tied it up at the time. Our play calling for the next 3 plays sucked, which is why Hudgins was so pissed. The Hudgins catch was out of my field of vision. But the first was definitely out.

This is from today's Burlington Times-news:

And on the next snap, Riddle’s third-down lob to Hudgins — in nearly the exact spot — was so microscopically close that photographers later were enlarging the image to determine where the Elon star’s left foot landed.

It was a jump-ball sequence that Hudgins so often mastered during his luminous Elon career. But his foot came down right on the chalked out-of-bounds line.

Sounds like it was really close...

and I'll throw out the "GREG BRADY" reference on the photogs.

Richmond was called for 7 penalties totaling 67 yards. Elon was called for 4 penalties totaling 25 yards.

The worst call of the day was the pass interference call on Seth Williams while the Elon receiver jumped over his back on the drive preceding your touchdown. That was offensive interference, but instead was called against UR and continued your drive. I think you're really stretching if you are arguing the refs helped US in this game.

An Elon photographer and videographer both got the Hudgins catch on camera and he caught the ball with his foot on the line, which means he was out of bounds. It was very close, but it was without a doubt the right call.

I didn't want to go that route. PhoenixPhan claimed the refs "won the game for [UR]." The officials were out of sorts all game, but they were right on top of the plays at the end. Not sure about his obsession with seeing video replays of injuries either.

The only ridiculously awful call was, fortunately, reversed. I still don't know how you throw a face mask flag if you didn't see a face mask infraction. The Elon fans were pretty upset when they picked up that flag, even though it was an obvious blown call to everyone in the stadium, from Riddle to a drunk sitting in the very top row.

I was just referencing the fact that the entire stadium was in the dark about what the heck happened on the injuries. McQueen was flat on his back, and we weren't even given a name of a player until he was on his way to the ambulance.

I agree with the calls. I was close enough to see Mellette's foot about 2' ob and Hudgins' toe was right on the line. I was not in perfect position for the 27' fg but I was close & it looked good to me. I won't comment on any of the other calls with the exception of the pass interference calls which I thought were correct both ways. But, on to other things...

I felt like both fan bases were the classiest I have seen. That game, fan wise, was a model of the way it should be. Yelling, screaming, intense for their respective teams, but, respectful of their opponent. As I headed back to my car, still donning my Elon gear, I had numerous Richmond fans compliment our team, shake my hand, etc., etc. One guy said that while he was happy that Richmond came away with the win, it was a shame that Elon had to lose. Many Spiders' fans waved their hands in acknowledgement of a good show and appreciation. It was nothing like the loud mouthed App fans taunting Elon's fans with profanity and tastlessness as we exited the stadium. I'm a SoCon fan through and through, But the Richmond fans have made it very, very hard not to cheer for them next weekend. You certainly have won me over. I am anxiously awaiting our next game. Firstly, for an attempt at retribution and secondly, to see your new stadium.

I was also very impressed with the Elon fans turnout. I'm not sure what the final count was, but I'm sure Elon accounted for at least a third of the total. The overall turnout was impressive for two small, private academically based schools. Especially considering that it was Thanksgiving weekend.

While it will take me a few days to get over the loss and, slightly longer, the realization that our 12 very special seniors won't take the field again for our team, there were still many positives to take away.

Just how would you feel about them if they had taken your QB out with late hits two years in a row?

The above comments were only made to those elon fans who saw the need to bad mouth ASU as they were commenting on the elon loss.

It's more like for every 50 fans. When you have 5 times the fans there are likely 5 times the "bad seeds". Is it right; no, but the majority of ASU fans are good people. Now as far as message boards go your ratio is likely true for every team.

The rivalry between Appy and Elon must be something, given all the trash talk on this message board. All I know, having been to both Boone and Burlington for Spider games in the last two years, is that we were treated pretty well in both places. Both sets of fans were strongly into their respective teams, which is as it should be. But neither set bothered us, which is also as it should be.
Elon has a great team, with great fans, and so does App St. Glad to have the Phoenix in town last Sat., and look forward to the Mountaineers this week.
Hope you enjoy spending a little time in one of America's most historic cities!

To App. fans: REMEMBER THAT PARKING IS LIMITED AT THE STADIUM.
You may have to park on the street in residential neighborhoods. They're safe, but you may want to get there before dark in order to orient yourselves to the area. The walk to the stadium is no further than the walk to your stadium for most of your fans, as I recall.

Oh no way is there a rivalry according to the folks that play their ball next to Tweetsie RR. Elon is not considered worthy as We were once both members of the long defunct Carolinas Conference circa 1971. The late sixties were a high growth time for the NC State College System. (Look up Great Society and baby boom impact). AppSt joined the Southern Conference and when VMI dropped down to the Big South in 2002. Elon applied to move up to the SoCon and the ONLY negative vote was from AppSt. App is the only school Elon has not defeated and they rant and rave on any board that We do not run an excellent football program. We are a threat to their in-bred inferiority complex. To make themselves appear superior there fanbase must tear down others efforts to build themselves up. They are a damn good football team and their coach is great. But they need to get their butt's whipped.

No no. Both teams had opportunities lined up. The refs really didn't matter. The teams offenses just failed on any number of occasions, probably due more to the defenses than anything. Neither team really laid down and let the bad reffing effect the game other than two missed FGs, but one was blocked, which is again good D.

No, they don't. I think the way Richmond did it was the right way. They announced the kids name and he got a standing ovation by both crowds on the stretcher to the ambulance. It was completely the right way to do it.

It was a tough battle by both teams. The refs weren't stellar by any means. The one call that stands out to me was the flag thrown in the backfield when Riddle was sacked. It was either going to be unneccesary roughness or a facemask. The ref picked up the flag, no foul on the play. Then why in the he!! was it thrown to begin with?? Bottom line.......if you can't make a chip shot field goal to tie the game...and then miss again when you get a rare second chance...you don't deserve to win and move on in the playoffs

Exactly. It was going to be a facemask. The ref (who threw the flag) had to be told by the linesman that there was no facemask. Miles had his arms under Riddle's and around Riddle's torso! How does he throw the flag in the first place!?!

Nobody seems to know what happened on the punt, but Richmond's players pulled up when they heard multiple whistles. Lembo didn't think it was a big deal. For all our issues on long-snapping, our punt coverage this season has been outstanding. It really wasn't a difference maker.

The only reason it is not a rivalry is that ASU already has way too many rivalries. WCU is our longest and most fierce. GSU has become a rival due to their being a NC contender for several years and the two teams battled for first place in the SoCon many times. Furman has been a rival for over 20 years.
Being a contender causes many programs to dream up rivalries.

I think what's been said is, so many App fans spend so much time on Elon that it sure as heck seems like a rivalry to outsiders. I mean, just look at the proportion of App fans on AGS that spend time bashing or commenting on Elon.

Then take it to the next level where you get an even larger proportion of fans on the MMB who do s lot of Elon bashing. Whether it's posting a message that they talked about Elon's stadium being a high school stadium with SC State fans, or what.

The fact of the matter is, there is a large proportion of message board App fans who spend a disproportionate amount of time talking about Elon, you included, more so than they even talk about your "real" rivals.

Now, if it isn't a rivalry, I wonder just what it is. Sounds more like an obsession for some of the App people!

I think anyone looking somewhat objectively at this would recognize APP has nothing to prove to Elon so how could APP have an inferior complex like the other Elon fan mentions - Most all of the smack talk was started by Elon fans saying things like, this is our year, we will be the new face of the SoCon, and so on - of course, you say those things you are going to get smacked in return. Saw Jerry Tolley not long ago and again congratulated him on the back to back national championships in 80-81 but until this Elon group wins ANYTHING it might be best to remain silent ---- And by the way my experience tells me the APP fans take on the next big game on their schedule - Lord there was much more smack talk over the last couple of years from APP and JMU than the Elon/APP has ever had ----

All right Mr Ex-Elon Player Turn App Fan know it all.

We aren't talking JMU. I don't care about JMU. We're talking Elon. The Elon that isn't worth App's time. The Elon that isn't worth playing. The Elon that has no fans. The Elon that plays in a high school stadium. The "dirty" playing Elon. The Elon that Mr. Appman went to to count stadium seats to prove a point. The Elon that isn't and never will be equal to App in anything. All according to App fans.

Yes, that Elon. So why, why are we posted about SOOOOO much by App. And posted about even in places where Elon fans don't even post or read much other than by SHEER obsession by some of you fans.

Maybe you need to take a history lesson and click on the search button of a few forums before vomiting out another post.

OH, that call. I thought that was going to be something else.

I thought this was on the flag for holding that they called, and then picked up when Richmond had the ball earlier.

xconfusedx The only other flag they picked up, to my recollection, was the Pass Interference call on the tipped ball.

Since you're fairly new here, why not go sit in the corner and listen and read a bit before commenting much further. You're new here, and though, I know since you're older and you once played, you feel like you know everything. But, here's an idea, there's this little feature called "search" on this board, you could use it to actually research a little before opening that ex-Elon mouth of yours and inserting your own foot.

There is much more to this Elon/App history over the last 10 years than the posting on the message board this season.

The fact that you're an App fan, AGAIN, commenting on Elon just goes to prove the point, AGAIN.

Man you have a real problem with facts - I'm sorry you are so angry but don't blame it on the APP fans - FACT - Elon players, fans and supporters ran their mouths about this being their year - TRUE ---- FACT - Elon hasn't won anything since 1981 - TRUE
---- FACT - Elon didn't win the SoCon - TRUE ---- FACT - Elon didn't win it's playoff game - TRUE ---- FACT - APP kicked Elon's butt on their own field - TRUE ----

You were woefully weak and totally overwhelmed during our last debate on this board and the FACT is - you are wrong again !!!!

Case in point, another App fan commenting on Elon. Surprise.

Since you're fairly new here, why not go sit in the corner and listen and read a bit before commenting much further. But, here's an idea, there's this little feature called "search" on this board, you could use it to actually research a little before opening that ex-Elon mouth of yours and inserting your own foot. So, why not just try it Mr. KnowItAll ex-Elon player App fan Man. Press that little search link up there, type in Elon and look at the posts, rather than threads section. Then, count the number of App fan posts involving the word Elon. Then do it for Furman, and GSU.

There is much more to this Elon/App history over the last 10 years than the posting on the message board this season.

If you do that search for this year, you would be correct. However, over the last 10 year, GSU, Furman and WCU have all been much more of a rivalry to ASU than Elon. So, if it makes you fell better to think there is a great rivalry between us, go ahead. But your rivalry with us at the present time is very similar to ours with WCU. When we play you, we beat you. We just find it funny that some Elon fans like yourself do not know when to be quiet and have some humility. Most of your fans are very good, but like for most schools, a few do not know when to be quiet.
I cannot believe so many of your fans hate ASU. I was cheering for Elon because they come from the Southern Conference. Yes, we should have intense games when we play each other, but when playoffs start, we should support each other. The CAA does a wonderful job at this. We could learn a few things from this on that subject.
Anyway, go on suporting anyone who plays ASU and we will see you next year.

-sigh-

Do they teach reading at App? Do you guys even bother to read posts. This isn't about a rivalry. This is about an obsession by a subset of App fans to either constantly talk or constantly post about Elon. It is an obsession to some on the lines of Carolina fans hating Duke for specific reasons other than sports.

Again, if you bother to SEARCH, you will see it.

And because of that, and because App fans don't reign in their own fans, yes, you have those at our school who will never pull for App as a result.

I am now one of them.

That's true but I go all the way back to the Carolinas Conference probably before your time even - you and I have had some good discussions on topics however GoPhoenix can't make an argument without name-calling and anger - all schools have posters who their fans wish would forget how to type - GoPhoenix must be that type of all you knowledgeable Elon fans -

What was your take on how Richmond stacked up against other teams Elon has played this season? - APP, of course, hasn't played Richmond this year but I have been impressed with them the last 2 seasons and I hope I don't have to change my analysis a week from now but South Carolina State was the best team we played all year including ECU ----

Richmond's overall defense, IMO, was the best Elon has played this year. They didn't pressure Riddle quite as strong as App did, but the secondary and LB play was excellent. They stayed home and played out their assignments. Offensively, the Spider's biggest weapon against Elon was Ward taking off when the pocket broke down due to coverage. I was actually wanting him to have time to throw, because when he took off it was tough to catch him. He made good decisions, despite the picks he threw. Richmond vs. App- I have to give a slight edge to App, but I think it will be a one score game one way or the other.

He was in bounds. We got screwed. Really......I haven't seen a replay, but have heard from reliable sources today that said still photos show his foot "barely" touching the line. Truth be told.....at UR, with that officiating crew...he would have had to have both feet in to get that call. The refs screwed us a couple of times, but as I posted before.....if you can't make a 24 yd. field goal to tie the game, and then miss another one with 7 seconds on the clock to tie the game, pack your bags and go home. The official didn't miss that chip shot FG.

Yes. The burlington times news story had a video that showed it. The reporter also said that they blew up photos of the play and both clearly showed that he came down jsut on the line. It was really close but he was out.

UR and App semm pretty equally matched to me. It will be interesting to see how the offenses stack up--I saw a lot of similarities between Edwards and Ward, especially on Ward's TD run. (Which, by the way, is an area that Elon's D really needs to work on. We cannot run past a QB and let him run that far for a TD. No excuse.) Richmond's O-line was strong, kept our defense from recording a single sack. if either team can establish themselves early on with a two score lead or so, I think the other will have a hard time mounting a comeback.

you know Thor....of all the UR fans I have encountered in person and on AGS you are the only one that seems like a dimwit. Look at the rest of my quote. I went on to say that reliable sources said he was out. I don't question that. I do think a few calls went Richmond's way the were BS calls, not saying that was one of them. I find it incredibly interesting that you in the same breathe are ready to call me out for name calling, yet you, again, go to name calling and personal attacks. If you're going to be holier than thou, then be holier than thou. Otherwise pick and side and stay on it.

You are an ex-Elon player who has never had anything good to post about anyone playing at Elon.

And the fact that you have only been posting on boards for two seasons, have no idea about the history of posts between fans of certain schools for the prior 8 years.

You have no loyalty to Elon, you have never posted anything remotely loyal to Elon.

So no, don't sit here with this holier than thou attitude while talking out the sides of your mouth. Thanks for actually having a conversation, unlike - already forget his name - Last year Richmond had 2 stud DE and they were without question the best defense we played last year - Yes, AE was hurt but that didn't take anything away from the Spiders - they seemed like they had 12 guys on the field all day - I was hoping they might not be as good this year :>)

I also agree with your assessment of Ward - 2 years ago he kept Richmond in the game with his scrambles once the pocket broke - when looking at their season stats I was expecting to see more rushing yards from him - He is not the passer Riddle is but he is very dangerous once the play breaks down - It is absolutely hard for me to believe Ward wasn't even on the Payton watch list - Same for Riddle but I guess Hudgins has a better chance without vote splitting between Hudgins and Riddle - Riddle will be there next year ---- Again, thanks for your thoughts ----

Thanks for your input PhoenixPhan - I think through the course of the season Richmond has had a solid defense - APPs has just really come on as the season progresses - Richmond was the best defensive team we saw last year - SCSU this year (so far) - And in regards to Elon's D and the long run by Ward, there is not much a defense can do when an opposing QB has that ability - they could assign a spy to him but that limits pass coverage. This is why Armanti has been so good - many of his greatest plays have been when it looked like the play was over - APP has been burned a great deal over the last few years with running QBs - I remember URs offensive line last year - they looked like NFL guys - man I was hoping they all had graduated ---- Again, thanks for your civil and appreciated response ----
