Head Coach Relieved Of Duties At Princeton

Roger Hughes has been relieved of his duties as the Charles W. Caldwell Jr. head coach of football at Princeton, Director of Athletics Gary Walters announced today. A national search for a new successor will be held immediately.

Hughes went 47-52 in 10 seasons as Princeton head coach. The Tigers finished the 2009 season with a 4-6 record after defeating Dartmouth 23-11 on Saturday. Hughes came to Princeton in 2000 after having served as Dartmouth’s offensive coordinator. He had three winning records at Princeton in his 10 seasons, including a 16-4 stretch in 2005 and 2006 that included a 9-1 record and the 2006 Ivy title.

If you look at it from the long-term perspective, Hughes had 3 winning seasons out of 10, and none in the past three. That's enough to test the patience of Tiger alums -- to the extent they still care about FB.xtwocentsx
