I would say P - Mike Dragosavich of NDSU should be on the special teams. He "only" had the 2nd longest punt average in all of college football this season.

The Montana defense will be extremely good next year as well, but its hard to predict who will be the best player.

With his entire offense line coming back in front of him, Eric Sanders is prime to have a season in '06... If Wingert continues what he left off this season doing in the kicking game, he should be considered as well. Those are my homer picks. :)

Most of this year's All-American LB's weren't seniors, so the competition will be tough there. That said, I see LB - Kyle Shotwell from Cal Poly (Jr. in '05) on the Sports Network's Second Team. Given Poly's recent defensive studs, I'll be looking to see if he moves up to the first team...

(Just wanted to give the one non-homer pick here)

Do not forget Eldra. Mel Kiper hasn't. #3 rated juco back in 2003. 1200 yards for Chatt this year, including 185 against App. We will have a much better Oline in 2006 with three large D1 tranfers coming in. It is extremely tough to get beyond fourth in the SoCon, but look for Chattanooga to move up. Gasou, as dominate as they have been for 20 years, may take a step back as they adjust to a brand new offense.

You mean, I presume, DI-A transfers. They will remain in DI (Roman numeral. Be careful, you'll get an earful from the man). :nono: :D :D

I have played against both players. Cuff is a great back believe me, but Hilliard is on a whole different level, he is so powerful he runs with an attitude, like a runnaway train he runs with reckless abandon. I will say that Cuff should be the other first teamer with Hilliard.

No question that the two have different running styles - Omar runs away from you while Hilliard runs through you. But the results in terms of rushing yardage were very close. The thought of the two of them sharing a backfield is downright scary. Omar is arguably the better receiver out of the backfield so more of a "double threat".

In 2005 he broke Jordan Beck's school record for tackles in a season and was Sports Network 2nd team All-American. He will be on the Buchanon watch list to start the season.

When did you play against Cuff? He was not yet carrying the football for the Hens when UNH faced them in 2004 and the two teams did not play this past year. Cuff was only a Sophomore this season. I think you have Cuff confused with Lonnie Starks who was not the same quality of back.

Well...I guess if we are picking who will be on the actual Preseason All-American team, you are right. I was speculating on the make-up of the team after the season. You are right, though, Santos will undoubtedly be on the official Pre-Season team.

Furman will be JR and SO heavy but the ones that jump out:

John Kivett OT very underrated, but one of the best in the SoCon
Jerome Felton FB, ask Corey Lynch how good is #45
Andrew Jones LB, look for 130 plus tackles next season and alot of BC powders for runningbacks and quarterbacks.

Sleeper: Cedric Gipson could be a 1300 yard plus rusher next season

You're right on about Gipson. He's going to put up huge numbers next year. Only problem is, with the J-Train, he won't get as many TDs as some other backs because Felton is used so often in those situations.

If ASU's Murrell is first team Kivett must be considered as he allowed Murrell only 3 tackles in the Semis and consistantly graded out as 1st or 2nd OL on the Paladins in 05 according to teammates and was coaches selection for offensive POG 2 or 3 times (once in the playoffs)

They also say Tharry Salley (running back) is a horse and will be a candidate for Freshman of the year in Socon.

Gipson will get his yards next year as will Felton. it looks like more option for Furman next year and less option for Georgia Southern in 2006. Interesting :xmas:

A little optimistic don't you think? I-A transfers don't always work out. We had a Cal QB transfer to Davis a couple years ago after he lost the starting job to Aaron Rodgers - he ended up 4th on the depth chart and left the program. I wouldn't put any bets on Swogger being AA

Kays has gotten some due recently, being named to the Sports Network 3rd team AA and the AP 2nd team - just not much on these boards. He's in that group of top receivers who could be first team next year.

I liked your list. As a punt return specialist, I would love to nominate my guy Craig Turner. Also worth mentioning would be a little-known player at that position Nick Feldman of Morehead State, a soph who averaged 18.96 yds/return and scored a couple of TDs on returns this year. James Noble (7 yds/carry) of Cal-Poly deserves some consideration at running back.

Some thoughts

RB-Eldra Buckley (UTC) will shine if he is on the team. Chatty has a history of having players not make the grade.

other RB's include

Kevin Richardson (App)
Jerome Felton and Cedric Gipson (Furman)
Darius Fudge and Mike Malone (WCU)
Foster (GSU) if he moves to tailback
Gabriel Jackson (Wofford)
Also, will Kevious Johnson (I think is his name) return to the Wofford program and pick up where he left off?

It looks like its going to be a big year for the tailbacks in the SoCon. Lots of new QB's.
