Looks like it was a very close vote, with Lincecum, Carpenter, and Wainwright all within ten points of each other. Wainwright had the most first-place votes, but finished third.

I'm sure the Cardinals guys cancelled each other out a little bit. I think Lincencum's the better pitcher than either of them, but Carpenter had the better year.

If the Giants could generate a little more offense it wouldn't have been this close. Hopefully, they won't have to trade too much pitching to get a couple more decent bats in the lineup.

I think Carpenter's missed starts made as much of a difference as anything. With all three being very close, it makes sense that the guy with <30 starts and <200 IP is the odd man out (though actually he did finish ahead of Wainwright, despite getting fewer first-place votes and appearing on two fewer ballots).

FWIW, I went 1. Wainwright 2. Lincecum 3. Carpenter on my AGS Cy Young ballot.

As a Cubs fan that hates the Cardinals with every ounce of his being...

Carp should have won it and WOULD have won it without the missed starts - the guy can flat out pitch.

As a Giants fan, I will say that few pitchers did more with less - probably Greinke - than Lincecum last year.

And I'll also admit that I probably haven't seen Lincecum pitch as much as I would have liked to.

You guys start too late. xwhistlex

Like the vote numbers, and couldn't argue which of the 3 won. I am a big fan that the voters aren't basing their ENTIRE vote on the "casual fan stats" like Wins, Loss and ERA. Glad they are being responsible and using the more important stats when voting.
