Mangino is alleged to have grabbed, yelled at and put his finger in the chest of a player who had been laughing at a walkthrough or practice prior to the Colorado game on Oct. 17, two people briefed on the situation told ESPN's Joe Schad on Tuesday night. That was a key incident among others that have been raised by players or parents.

Some players have threatened to transfer because of what they perceive as having been spoken to in an inappropriate manner, another source said.

What a bunch of weenies and helicopter parents. Wow the coach yelled at me and put a finger in my chest. If I told my old man that a coach did that to me he would have laughed and said I deserved it and maybe I learned my lesson.

Man, if Bo Schembechler or Woody Hayes coached today, they wouldn't last a year.

This really isn't about being sissys who can't handle being yelled at -- it's about being divas who think they're above reprimand. That is the larger problem, in my book.

M&M were talking about the Stanford/USC game last weekend where apparently Harbaugh went for 2 after scoring a TD late in the game already up by a big margin and they brought up Woody/Bo saying one of them was asked why they went for 2 late in a game already up big and the answer was "Because I couldn't go for three." xlolx I don't know if it's true, but it's funny.

My favorite is the reported exchange between Carroll & Harbaugh after the game:

Carroll: What's your deal?

Harbaugh: What's your deal?

Love it. LOVE. IT.

Say what you will about Harbaugh, but Carroll can't get enough of those sorts of beatdowns in my book.

You gotta love Hawkins! He can't win a game outside of Boise, but he is a great soundbyte.

You've described society in general.

I would say put pink tutus on these jerks, but that would be an insult to ballet dancers who tend to be hard working and disciplined and think nothing of being yelled at by instructors.

That is true, from what I've heard.

I got hand slapped upside my head a few times back in HS by a couple of my coaches. Thought nothing of it either, except that I better start playing better or my butt will be on the bench.

Went something like this..."Laces!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE EFF ARE YOU THINKING!! START KICKING SOME ASS! BE MORE INTENSE! PLAY SMARTER BOY!!............WHAACCKKKK!

Oh I did have my helmet on! So my coaches hand hurt like hell afterwards.

The problem is kids grow up now being taught that they are entitled to everything, they should be held accountable for nothing, and someone else should bail them out of any screw up that they may commit. Kids are taught that they are on the same level as adults, and everyone should be allowed to speak their minds and share their emotional needs with others. I don't think a coach should be really abusive, but a good cussing out, and a little facemask twisting or chest poking never hurt anyone. Made them better in most cases.

Some of the stories coming from former players are rather bad. Sounds like lots of shots on players personal life, including pretty sharp comments about player's alcoholic fathers and another one's brother who had just been shot. That kind of stuff is going to get you in trouble...especially after the winning tapers off.

I was about to post this, surprised no one mentioned it. I understand petty insults but it sounds like some of the stuff he says definitely crosses the line.

If that kind of stuff was going on, that's out of line. And, like you said....if you aren't winning, the tolerance level of those around drops off drastically.
