The Owls won for the 8th time in row tonight, beating Akron 56-17. I'll officially say it, we're good. We might not be truly top 25 material but we're a solid FBS team. The rankings will be interesting however. We were 32 in the USA Today and 34 in the AP heading in to this week. Ultimately some teams are going to lose, WVU already has, so it might happen this week. This has been in amazing year so far and i hope it continues. We have Kent State next week and finish up the year against Ohio out there. As of now the Ohio game will determine the MAC East champ.

Our winning only makes Villanova's win over us look that much better. Something about that pains me but at least they're the #3 right now. Don't forget we beat Navy two weeks ago.

We're finally getting some pub on ESPN which is awesome! xnodx

Beanard Pierce is having a tremendous Fr. season. Number wise it's almost as good as Adrian Petersons'. It's not against the same competition but it's still great company. xbowx

A season like this will probably help Temple start pulling in some of the Philly recruits that can read.

I'm rooting for the underdogs, I hate to say it but it may take more than a 9-win season in the MAC to land a bowl game, I don't really have the stats but we don't see that many MAC teams playing in bowls. I hope they beat Ohio and win the title

They're definitely into a bowl. I believe the NCAA changed the rules a few years back regarding bowl eligibility. If I remember correctly, a bowl MUST take a team with a winning record (at least 7-5) over a team with a 0.500 record (6-6). Even still, I think the MAC has several bowl tie-ins anyway. And I would think that Temple has a good shot at getting into the MAC title game, right?

This is great for Temple. After so many down and embarrassing seasons. PLus, good to see a 'city' school doing well. Not too many left.

ESPN.com bowl projections currently have Temple playing Rutgers in the International Bowl.

Three bowl games have MAC tie-ines:
Little Caesars Pizza Bowl (MAC vs. Big Ten)
International (Big East vs. MAC)
GMAC (ACC vs. MAC)

Frankly, I still don't see it. Temple's record is far improved, but I don't see them being any different than 5-10 years ago. Back then, they could hang with and be in a position to beat a top FCS team (ala nova this year). But back then they played a much harder schedule and the results were what they were. This year, the MAC is at an all-time low in terms of competitiveness and Temple is feasting on what is really a cake schedule. Throw in the fact that they barely beat a Navy team that 1) didn't look that great against UD and 2) played without their starting QB, who is really the best player on that team, and again, Temple doesn't come out looking so hot.

I know it's not fashionable to point this out now in this Temple rennaisannce, and I'm sure I'm raining on the parade of the Temple folks who are happy for any success, but I don't see Temple being any different now than they were 5 or 10 years ago. The only thing that changed was the schedule, and right now, they play pretty much nobody.

I thought the MAC Champ played in the Motor City Bowl every year against a random at-large Bowl eligible team?

The Motor City is now the Little Ceasar's and there has been a Big Ten tie-in for severeal years. The Motor City was something like 6th in line behind Rose/BCS, Capitol One, Outback, Champ Sports, and Alamo. It didn't just get the Big Ten's sloppy seconds, it got the Big Ten's sloppy sixths. In fact, one of the unofficial goals for pretty much every team in the Big Ten is "No Motor City Bowl!".

Last year there weren't enough bowl-eligible teams from the Big Ten, so the other spot went to FAU.

Nobody went to Temple/Rutgers games when they were played at Temple and Rutgers. The schools are less than 2 hours apart.

I doubt those fans would travel to Canada to see them play each other.
