Yeah, what made you think we thought we have a good chance? The fact that Navy's laying 20 in this game? xlolxxlolxxlolx
Win or lose, it's going to be an enjoyable Saturday. I'm heading down with the whole family and we're taking a tour of the Academy in the morning, eating lunch in town, and then walking up to the Stadium for the game, and then we're hitting Cantler's after the game for some fresh crabs. It'd be great if we won, but that's just a small part of a really fun day. xthumbsupx

No prob. Enjoy the game, GF! I made it over in 2003 and 2007, but can't make it this year. I'll be back in Annapolis for work on Tuesday, so I'll either be sneaking in trying not to be noticed or talking smack like I did two years ago. Because of that, the squids will be waiting for me if we lose. They make up these little signs that say "Army Football, Making Navy Look Good Since <insert whatever year Navy won first>" and plaster them all around our building to taunt the Army guys. I'm sure I will see a modification to the "Army" and the year next week. xoopsx

Winner winner chicken dinner! Let's hope our Hens can show something today in Annapolis. I had tickets for the game but circumstances forced me to give them up. Let's hope it's a repeat of 2 years ago, pouring rain on the way down, sunshine at the tailgate and in the stadium. 59 points.

You can get today's game for $5. It's being shown (at least on my digital box) on Channel 732, CSTV. I don't know how this game will turn out, but Delaware turned in about as good a defensive effort in the first half as you are ever going to see against Navy's triple option (much better than Ohio State or Notre Dame). Too bad Delaware could not have scored TDs. A TD would have been huge at the end of the half. Can't believe the OL is playing as well as they are.
tribe_pride
November 14th, 2009, 04:52 PM
Me too. If you can pull off the impossible and beat Navy and Nova, you guys are in the playoffs and the Richmond-W&M game will be for sole possession of the CAA. Though I'd hate to face Delaware in the playoffs after this type of confidence.
Go Hens.

November 14th, 2009, 04:56 PM
The problem here is the same for both teams, if you let another team hang around long enough, something bad is going to happen. The question is, who will it happen to if no one puts this thing away, which would probably only take 2 TD's in the 2nd half the way this is going.
That being said, if UD pulls this off, they need to schedule Notre Dame quickly before the domers wise up and Charlie Weis is still there. 1-0 against them all-time would look good. Haha

Wow. Navy goes for the rub-salt-in-wound TD when they could have run out the clock.
Pretty lame.

GREAT effort, Hens!
Coulda, shoulda, woulda, oh well.
Props to Keeler and the staff for getting this team ready. And he wants to stop playing these types of games??!! Seems like some of their best efforts are against I-A teams. Focused, energized, etc...

Yes, USMMA is a service academy. It is one of five US service academies. Delaware is 2-0 against it in football. Delaware has never played the Coast Guard Academy.
Why must you keep harping on something that you are clearly wrong about?

Sorry I missed this game, sounds like a entertaining one. You guys should play Navy more often - the game is a natural and I bet you drew a decent crowd in Annapolis even with the weather conditions.

the USMMA does not play football sir, therefore they are not the correct answer to a question that asks "name the service academy that Delaware COULD beat in football every year?"
I was a Marine instructor and have an incredible amount of patience, so I'll keep harping for as long as it takes

Actually they do play football kind sir, albeit at the Division III level of course, but you are adamantly incorrect about that statement.

read your reference (second link) it states:The USMMA Mariners compete in Division III of the NCAA, as a charter member of the Landmark Conference in all sports except in football,
so which one of your links is the correct one??? you probably should have quit while you were still ahead

So now, Caribbean, you're saying you weren't posing a question and expecting a fact-based answer, but rather were trying to make a joke about the Coast Guard Academy? May I suggest that you rephrase such attempts at humor or conjecture with "would beat", instead of "could beat" which implies the past and facts. That would have saved a few pages of back and forth. xpeacex
