What do coaches know? No wonder the AFCA All-American team had us scratching our heads... :eyebrow:

Absolutely, I 've said that for years. They have no time at all to worry about what 30 teams around the country did and how bad or good they did it. Nothing there but politics.

Can't argue with facts.

About coaches' polls - anyone read that SI column about how biased they are when voting? It's ridiculous anyone pays any attention to coaches polls.

Could not AGREE MORE!!! I have coached at the high school level and the only players you really know are your own!!!. Every once in a while an opposing player just takes you apart and you notice them but when you are voting for all conference and all state you generally rely on coaches you trust from other teams. Many conferences you don't even see and you certainly don't have time to scout a team you will never play.

If a player messes up with their own coach they will not get any honors regardless of how good he/she is.

A couple of years ago a player had a run in with a coach and transferred from a Catholic to public school. This player destroyed our team and was elected 1st team all conference only to be totally blackballed by the Catholic school coaches in all state voting and did not receive honorable mention. Yes politics plays it's part.
