Article from the Bryan/College Station Eagle about Dustin Long and his long shot at making it to the NFL this coming season. Interesting read comparing him to Carlyle Holiday and Jason White and Reggie McNeal.

Dustin still a Long shot for making NFL roster

It’s too bad Carlyle Holiday didn’t sign a free-agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys. That way he could try to catch on by catching passes from Dustin Long, two players who forever will be linked for what could have been.
Long, the former Texas A&M quarterback who transferred to Sam Houston State, didn’t get drafted, nor did Holiday, who couldn’t make it as a quarterback at Notre Dame, moving to wide receiver for his last season.
They are among the hundreds of former college players who are trying to buck the odds and make an NFL roster. They have a better chance of making it in NFL Europe or the Arena League, but more than likely they’ll not be heard from again as players.
Their paths to the NFL training camps have been well documented. A&M signed Port Neches-Groves’ Long after the Aggies failed to recruit San Antonio Roosevelt’s Holiday, who signed with Notre Dame.
