CSN Inside the OVC: OVC Starting To Wonder Whether Two Teams Will Make Playoffs

Most of the teams in the OVC have two conference games left and with the playoffs just three weeks away, the league has to start wondering whether it will get two teams in the playoffs after just one was invited last season.

The biggest problem for the OVC is any team that could finish in second place will have at least two losses and possibly three. But league coaches say OVC play is rigorous enough that it deserves two teams.

2 teams won't be going from the OVC this year...The rest of the AGS fans on here could have a field day with this...Likely scenario is EIU gets the autobid and gets sent to SIU.

Won't happen. Eastern Kentucky and Eastern Illinois are the only two remaining eligible for an at-large birth, E Kentucky will have to beat Jacksonville State to become eligible. Even if they do they would only be 7-4 and that wont get an at-large bid over an 8-3 or 7-4 team from the CAA, MVC or Big Sky conferences.

Of course in the unlikely event Eastern Illinois loses to either Tennessee State or Tennessee-Martin EKU would win the auto bid at 7-4 and Eastern Illinois could get a at-large bid at 8-3 assuming they don't lose to badly, that said its very unlikely EIU will lose to either of those teams, so it comes down to whether a 7-4 OVC is worthy, and its not.

TSU and UTM are dangerous teams that are very capable, but inconsistant. Either team could absolutely beat EIU if they get a few breaks. The bigger issue for us is Jax State. I just don't see us being able to put enough points on the board to get that win. I hope I'm wrong.

From what I witnessed this year in the OVC, one team in is it! With alot of skill players coming back, EKU looks to make a great run next year.

If TTU doesn't get the autobid, NO WAY do they deserve to be mentioned in the top 16 (although a win at Jax St Saturday would help A LOT)...EKU beating Jax St would help, too, but not enough to get an at-large team...

The TSU situation may (?) get there players to step up. It will be tough for EKU to run the table. That d*amn UK game took out of starting Center & our best DB is dinged as well. No off week late in the year just hurts. xmadx

Doesnt matter, TTU wont get to 7 Div I wins so they wont get an at-large

Had Jax State not been ineligible, then the league would have very likely got two. Too bad they aren't though.

The only chance the OVC had of getting two bid went out the window on two dark nights in Richmond, KY and Clarksville, TN.
