Yes I'm a GWU homer, but this is the only way we can win the Big South.

Is it basketball season yet? God knows I love Blue Hose football, but this season has been the most painful thing to witness. I've never seen us struggle so badly. Before this season, the worst I've ever seen out of our guys was when were something like a 5-6 or 4-7 team in 2003-2004. Ugh. We'll get better, but I see this season ending without one win. I think that we're in a better position to improve with Coach Nichols than with Bentley, though. xprayx

LU 31
G-W 17

A late LU touchdown makes the margin seem wider...I expect both defenses to be stout early on....

CSU 17

Stony Brook stays focused just enough to pull out the win and set up the showdown Nov. 21 with LU...

Army 34
VMI 13

Cadets show compassion on the Keydets by not running up the score....

You won't see us on tv anymore this year. For some reason, our conference didn't put this week or next week on tv. In fact, there's not a single Big South Conference game televise for the rest of the year.

We only produce the home games and Kyle in his infinite brilliance chose to waste one of the Big South television package games on the VMI @ LU matchup last week when it would've been better produced by our crew and carried on MASN anyway.

Kyle is a mess and the league desperately needs somebody in charge who has a clue.

Looks similar to SBU's final TD in the VMI game, a sweep around left end with 9 VMI defenders "running in place", chasing the ball carrier. Legs churning up the turf but their upper torsos not moving.:(..........BUT; VMI had mucho other opportunities to win that game.

Haha, I guess I have a bit of crow to eat in terms of my opinions on CSU earlier this year. Coach Mills has that team going in the right direction, that's for sure. Congrats on the win.

I, too, want to give CSU a slap on the back..........I guess playing Fla. and South Fla. won't such a bad idea.........$800K in the bank, and a chance for a 6-win season to boot. We got a whopping $160K from Army, and are staring at a confident ODU squad for this Saturday.

SuperJon

I'll say it again and continue saying it: The fact that Jay Mills can keep CSU competitive with their facilities the way they are is nothing short of a miracle. That man is a frickin offensive genius. How he is still at CSU I don't know but while he is, he'll always give them the chance to win.

jcmanson
November 15th, 2009, 11:25 AM
Yeah props to CSU. If LU beats SBU next week then CSU and SBU would be tied for 2nd in the league. Very good showing by CSU the last 3-4 weeks and they are playing better than anyone in the league with the exception of LU.

It's more difficult to post after your team loses. For Knucklehead, who wanted some pics of Mike
Brown and Aldrekis Allen. The Mike Brown pics are easy. I'm not so sre about Mr. Allen - I don't recall seeing much of him yesterday. The next time Liberty comes to Boiling Springs though, you can leave Mr. Brown at home. He made the difference in the game yesterday.

Fun facts about Liberty's game yesterday:

Every touchdown yesterday was scored by a freshman or sophomore.

Of the 173 rushing yards, 125 of them came from freshmen or sophomores.

Of the 337 receiving yards, 323 of them came from freshmen or sophomores.

Of the 656 all purpose yards, 480 were by guys that are coming back next year, 463 were by freshmen or sophomores.

The field goal kicker and punter were both sophomores.

Of the top ten tacklers, eight of them will be back next year.

Finally, Coach Jay Mills and the Charleston Southern football team are getting some much needed and much deserved respect. That is great to see and hear. I said it at the beginning of the year that we had a good football team and would surprise some teams this year. We consistently have outperformed the pre-season predictions during Coach Mills' tenure at Charleston Southern.

Our game yesterday against Stony Brook was a great game to watch. Two very good teams just kept delivering big punches. The Stony Brook running back is very good and was pretty impressive. The passing game for Stony Brook wasn't too good. They had some drops. The Stony Brook kicking game was a liability for them also. I could tell they don't have much confidence in their kicker.

The Charleston Southern defense played a great game. Our coaching staff did a great job of in-game coaching and making adjustments to put our players in a position to make a play and get a win. Our players on both sides of the ball did a great job of accepting the coaching and competing as a team.

I LOVE THIS COACHING STAFF!!! It doesn't matter that people say they can't understand why Coach Mills is still at CSU. He is a great coach, a great man, and a great fit for our school. He understands and supports what our mission is. And, more importantly, this is HIS program. I want him to and hope he stays for many years. He is doing a great job and I want him to be here to accomplish some of the goals he has for our program. Watch out for us next season!!!

I hope our guys can stay focused this week and work and prepare hard. This three-game winning streak will be all for naught if we lose focus and lose to Coastal. We can't be too full of ourselves. CSU and Coastal will both enter next week with a winning season on the line. I know we will get Coastal's best punch. I know we are the better team, but we have to show it on Saturday. I can't wait!!!

GO CSU!!! GO BUCS!!! GO BLUE!!!

SuperJon

I have never and will never say a bad word about Jay Mills. That man is too good of a coach and anyone who knows anything knows that. I like what Coach Rocco said going into our game against Charleston Southern: Jay Mills will always, always, always have a game plan that will allow Charleston Southern to win a game. It comes down to whether or not the players are able to execute those plays successfully.

Unless CSU rolls over and dies, there's no way they don't beat Coastal.
