Thought we'd keep a running list!
Exhibitions are going to be a thing of the past and closed door scrimmages will rule the roost!
LeMoyne (Div II) over Syracuse
Northwood (NAIA) over Florida International
Presently...
Xavier (NAIA) leads Southern 66-55 with 4:18 left in the second half. Xavier lost some of their better players too! UPDATE - they are going OT. A tie at 69. Go figure...nice comeback Jags!

And Rollie Massimino! He's the coach at Northwood. FIU is a school for kids who wanted to go to Miami but stabbed someone in high school.

It's funny when I saw thia thread and who created it, I knew Southern and/or the SWAC would be involved. Southern was an 8 win team last year with losses to a D-II and an NAIA last year. Why would this be a surprise? You live in NO you should know that Xavier usually has talent.
Besides as another poster said they're exhibitions.

Yes, but for many fans - it's their first time to see their basketball teams. If scrimmages are not going the way of the "favorites", don't expect to see them much anymore.
Closed door scrimmages. Some programs are already doing two of these as is and fans are griping about lack of exhibitions. Now the gripes will just get louder!

You might want to watch the game tape then...they went up 10 in the second half and sent in a line change of guys that will never see the court during the year.

Speaking as a D2 Alumnus, I can tell you that these games are not meaningless to us. Tarleton looks forward to these type games. As fans, it is the only time that we get to play against the marquee-name schools in the state. Talking to players, they love it because there is a stigma about playing D2. They like going into a Big XII gym and leaving them stunned.

Are you deluded? Actually, it is probably a better academic school than Miami. Miami is one of the most OVERRATED educational institutions in the US, propped up by BIG TIME MONEY FROM DONORS.
I almost went their twice (undergrad and law school) and was highly unimpressed.
FIU, for that matter, is a large-sprawling academic institution that caters to both wealthy and non-wealthy students, and a lot of Latin American and/or Hispanic residents in the area.
It is FAR from a bad school.

"The U.S. News and World Report currently ranks FIU as a fourth tier postsecondary institution in the National Universities category. U.S. News & World Report (2008) also ranks the Landon Undergraduate School of Business 7th in the nation and ranks the Chapman Graduate School of Business 11th amongst business schools in the United States for international business.[6] BusinessWeek (2006) ranks the College of Business among the top 15% of graduate business schools in the U.S., 1st in South Florida, and in the top 25 among public business schools in the U.S.[38]
In 2007, the Florida International University College of Law ranked 1st in the state of Florida with a bar passing rate of 94%, and 1st in the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam at 96%"
Looks like the do have a quality law and business school--I had no idea....but they are still rated 4th tier overall.

I dont give a hoot what those magazines list. It is horse**** and most people know it.
I have NO AFFILIATION to FIU...but I know the school well...and his post was a joke. It is one of the youngest schools in the country, and is growing in stature by leaps and bounds. For example, as you state the law school has the highest passage rate of the Florida Bar exam-- I took that exam (one of three states I took)...and it was not an easy test.
My point is...MIAMI is not a great academic institution that people prop it up to be...and FIU is one of the youngest and fastest growing shcools in the country.

And that's my point. It's just like the FCS teams getting all pumped up to play a big FBS school. The difference for the big program is that these games don't even count and they usually throw plenty of time to the reserves.

Oh come on, I was making a joke.. But you're acting like Miami is some joke school. It has a solid business school, a good marine biology program and it's medical school has one of the best eye programs in america.

Happens on the women's side. North Texas fell to Texas Women's in a crosstown rivalry game! ;)

Point taken.
And thankfully, you are correct about the medical school- definitely one of the best in the country. Most may not remember, but it was their specialized paralysis treatment that got that player walking again (they injected near frozen saline solution into his spine to "freeze" any damage).

Here's another one: Concordia-Irvine 57, UC-Irvine 56
AND: Concordia-Irvine had a one-point loss to UCLA 62-61. The Bruins needed a 3-pointer with 16 seconds left to win it. After that, the Eagles had two shots at the other end that didn't go in.

EKU already does the closed door scrimmage thing exclusively in the pre-season. The coaching staff thinks the team gets more out of it...and they are usually against other Division I teams which most exhibition games are not.

Syracuse 95, No. 12 California 73.....and I'll say it again: exhibitions are meaningless.
