D-II Le Moyne College (Syracuse, NY) beat #25 Syracuse in an exhibition game tonight. I guess Le Moyne gets city bragging rights. xlolx

As a 'Cuse hoops fan this is pretty bad but congrats to the Dolphins. Syracuse has a lot of talent this year but most of it has never really played together. I think the 'Cuse will survive this and be better off in the long run. As for the Dolphins. They have to be a pretty good D2 school or at least an athletic one.

A team in upstate NY carries the nickname "dolphins"?
Kutztown is also playing Nova in a similar exibition.

Cuse fan here. Obviously this isn't a good start but this seems to happen 3 or 4 times a year. Michigan State has fallen victim once or twice. But I guess Cuse can't sweep the New York state teams this year!

Great...Albany gets them opening night when Jim B. is going for his 800.
Can anyone smell a 30 pt drubbing-- we aren't bad...but we feature 6 frosh and 5 sophs.

I'm wondering who would give who a better game:
Syracuse b-ball team vs the football team in football or Syracuse football team vs the b-ball team in b-ball?

Le Moyne is projected to finish in the upper half of their conference (16 teams) but they really are not anything too special. This is pretty embarassing for Syracuse but in the end it will only make that team work harder to come back and produce a good season.

Congrats to LeMoyne. This is embarassing for Syracuse but they will rebound and make the best of the situation.
Greg Paulus has got to be laughing at this one. Coming from Duke to 'Cuse football and then see them struggle against a D2 like LeMoyne. Too bad he can't help out the Orange's basketball team as well...

I don't know what Greg Paulus has to do with this, but I'd argue that he hasn't exactly "helped out" their football team either, except for bringing his friends and family to put a few more people in the seats.

He was suspended for a game for cheating in school (again, that's why he missed the entire 2008 season). Probably figured he's a top 15-20 NFL pick so why bother, though I wonder if it hurts him.

Why wouldn't it hurt him?

Every year D2 teams beat D1 teams. The talent gap isn't really that much different between D2 teams and non-elite D1 teams. The biggest differences that I have noticed is that major D1 conferences are able to pick up Quality Big Men.
In the past 5 years, Tarleton State (D2) has played at Texas, Baylor, Texas A&M, TCU, New Orleans, Lamar. Beat Lamar, TCU, and Baylor and lost to Texas A&M by 9 points when they were ranked #16 in the nation.
