5 interceptions, one fumble...and they still win...xsmhx

There is no justice in this world.

*shrugs*

It is what it is. I have a lot of respect for the team simply because they don't give up and play 60 full minutes of football.

The better the Hawkeyes do, the better UNI's loss is. Of course, it also makes the Panther's losses to SIU and SDSU even more perplexing.

I am from Iowa and lived in Cedar Falls for many years. No matter how well you guys do you are the story on the 2nd page of the sports section. If anything I would take Iowa's season and feel good about almost beating them. Two bad you negated that game by losing twice to 1-AA opponents.

Big Q will be how they perform in the 'lucky' Horseshoe....;)

I just get frustrated in seeing how lucky they get, game after game.

Blocking TWO field goal attempts to beat UNI. A magical drive to beat Michigan State. The most insane, pinball interception (along with several overturned calls) to beat Indiana. Let alone close games with Michigan, Arkansas State, etc.

They are the worst 9-0 team in the history of college football. They are a few plays away from a losing record.

how much of it is luck when it continues to happen each week. They seem to make their own luck

They're a lot like the 2002 Ohio State team. That team was called the worst undefeated team ever as they clawed out several wins.

No, that honor belongs to the 2001 BYU Cougars. They were hollering about suing to get into the BCS since they were sitting on 10-0 but didn't crack the top 10. Of course, they then took a huge dump in their final regular-season game and then got waxed by Louisville in the Liberty Bowl.

I dunno. I really haven't seen any FBS team this year where I felt like they they weren't beatable by another good (not great) team. Iowa is certainly beatable but it's hard to argue with their results to date. I think it will be interesting to see where they land in bowl season.

Ball State last year basically followed the same past as '01 BYU.

I don't really think Iowa is overrated. They have a lot of talent and a very good coach. Every week they're getting peoples best shot and it's not like their playing a bunch of scrubs. All Big 10 jokes aside there's still some darn good football teams there along with some of the toughest stadiums in the country.

Heh. Good point on Ball State.

Congrats on Temple's defeat of Navy today -- am I correct in hearing it's their first bowl-eligible season since 1978?

There's no question that the Big 10 power structure is all screwy this year, but I don't necessarily buy that it's "a down year". Funny you don't hear people saying the same thing about the Pac 10, what with Stanford being semi-respectable and USC in danger of losing the conference.

It's actually the first time we're bowl eligible since 1990 but we were an Independent at the time. The last time we were in a bowl was 1979. This has been an absolutely amazing season for Temple football. The only black eye was that horrible loss to Villanova. With every win by us those on the Mainline get to gloat a little more which sickens me.

Iowa has been one of the better programs in the Big 10 this decade. An arguement can be made they've been the second best behind OSU.

They had 2-3 down years in the middle of the decade, so that definitely hurts them, although Penn State struggled early and Michigan is struggling now.

They're certainly in the top half/top third of the conference, for whatever that is worth.

Speaking of Michigan, how much longer do you think Rich Rod has at Michigan? They forced Carr out since he couldn't beat Tressel but he otherwise had a top-tier program in place. I think their irrational hatred of the Buckeyes and overblown panic to get the spread caused them to make a very, very bad decision in hiriing Rodriguez. I don't see him lasting longer than 3 years.

I'm not sure how long he has, but it's weird that both Carr at Michigan and Cooper at OSU were ousted for similar reasons (poor bowl performances and loosing to their rival) despite having solid records at the school.

Iowa is easily the most physical team in the country. They will beat you down.

That's how the Big Ten likes to play. They don't have the offensive firepower or the defensive superstars that other teams do. Instead they substitute that with just straight up smash mouth football, and it works. I don't think Iowa is getting enough credit for how good they are this year.
