This news will help...and not change the terms of a million dollar donation to the school's communication department. ;)

Sam Houston State quarterback Blake Joseph was back at practice Tuesday afternoon and all signs point to the senior starting on Saturday when the Bearkats host Northwestern State.

Joseph sprained his ankle in the fourth quarter of the Kats’ 44-21 victory over Nicholls on Oct. 10. Despite having limited mobility, he played in Sam Houston State’s loss to Southeastern Louisiana on Oct. 17, but sat out last weekend’s setback at Stephen F. Austin.

Former SHSU mass communications student wrote the Huntsville Item story and luckily, his story is not causing any issues as far as donations to secure the naming rights to our communications building - rightfully named after Dan Rather. xthumbsupx

If you bet in August that NW would 0-fer at this time, you could have cleaned up. Unbelievable! Hopefully they will at least rise up and get SFA to help their McNeese friends!

Katstrapper - seems that would be a change in philosophy.

The Demons averaged about 300 yards of total offense if you take away the most recent game according to CSN Down South. If they amounted to 300 in the air, even against SHSU - that'd be jaw-dropping by their numbers.

"As a whole, the quarterback led an offense to 402 yards, including 289 on the ground. The rushing output alone was 11 yards shy of the team’s average offensive production per game with the 402 yards surpassing by 100 the same mark."

Tjhis was an obvious attempt to use the recent news of events in the TxSU Communication Department to get a jab agaiinst TxSU. Surprising how you get away with things and any slight comment in protest of same or to retaliate gets warning to the "offenders" by the moderators. xnonox

Although Bobcat fans would have everyone believe that they played such an absolutely horrible game which lead to our rush numbers in order to save face...remember we have two good running backs (the inconsistency is in O-line) and a freshmen QB with some pretty good moves.

He juked Bobcat defenders out of their shoes a couple times on some runs. xcoolx

Looking forward to watching Harris on SLC Now this weekend.

Seems like he's a game changing QB. May not be able to pass with the Moses and George of the league - but can move around, open up the passing game and give teams some defensive issues.

One other thing I'd like to mention after reading your article, which I enjoyed, is that the electric Peveto and excitement around the program and it's future is still there.

We have crowds of maybe 4,000 or 5,000 last year and that team ended 7-4. This past weekend, at homecoming for a 0-7 team, we had a touch over 8,000. And I was there so I am not just going by word of mouth. xnodx

I know 8,000 isn't very much even by SLC standards, but under Stoker we would have had 4,000 people there if he was 0-7.

Money drives business and to have someone like Peveto carrying the torch - that's going to help. I just read an article about how Jody Conradt used to have to hit the pavement and go to every speaking engagement she can when she just started at Texas. Nothing has changed!

and TT, Peveoto can go around shooting the crap with everyone in town but it will not matter if he can't win.

Read the post, there would have been 3000 maybe 4000 there saturday if stoker was still here. We played McNeese last year with the conference title on the line and had a sparse dead crowd of maybe 10k. It was better last saturday at 0-6 than anything we've seen at Turpin since we won the conference in 04.

And if you're going to so ignorantly criticize our head coach, atleast learn to spell his name right...which I know is asking a lot from you.

It was a nice article, well written.

I thought the crowd was more than what was announced, it was certainly very loud at the end of the game. Harris had two long passes that were dropped, otherwise his statistics would have been even better. I was on the sidelines during the 4th quarter, and this sure doesn't seem like an 0-7 team with their attitude. Who knows what will happen Saturday, if we can eliminate the penalties then I think we will have a good shot at a win. Harris is the real deal.

Not to take anything away from the Demons ground effort, but you could put eleven one-legged nuns on the field and rush for 200 on Texas State...their run defense is extremely porous to say the least. If we hadn't fallen behind by 24 points, we could have rushed for 350+ that day...they never did stop us.

A La. pundit picked SHSU.

Northwestern at Sam Houston State (6 p.m., SLC-TV) – One of these weeks, the Demons are going to break through. They almost did last week, losing a heartbreaker to Texas State. If this one was at home, especially after SHSU lost 42-3 in league play a week ago, this would be it. But the road’s too much. Sam Houston State 34-24.

You dont have to remind us that we're playing like a bunch of one-legged nuns, its not like any one here has forgotten our record. And while T-State's rush D was extremely poor, its something to be said when we're still gaining 10-15 yards a rush with a stacked box and a true freshmen under center....Its not a secret we're keeping it on the ground.

Average attendance is usually the individual paid attendance for the games, plus season ticketholders present or not. Easy to average 8,000 paid, but only have 4,000 present at games. Fans in attendance for SLU-McNeese were way less than paid attendance.

Tulane claimed the attendance with McNeese was 27,000. I can tell you McNeese brought maybe 7,000 and Tulane had generously 1,500 we could see. The other the other non-visible18,500 was either paid and not there, sick in the restrooms, crammed into the luxury boxes, or standing in the endless concession lines.

If you wanted to see an empty Turpin Stadium, you should have seen it in the Gulf Star Conference days, even with good teams, in '72 and '73.

Congrats to the Kats!

Paul Harris, as I said earlier this week, is definitely one to keep tabs on. He is a game changing QB - though not necessarily through the air. He sure did have a few TDs though.

That's two straight games where the Demons pushed a Texas squad to their limits. They'll turn the corner, just glad it was not tonight. Hope Stoker enjoyed his defense coming up big in the fourth quarter on several occasions...

The good
Great game for Madkins - 7 catches, 147 yards, 2 TDs
The running game averaged 5.7 yards a carry and you take that without question
Young 'D' steps up in the fourth
Three turnovers, zero giveaways

The bad
Special team miscues nearly cost us the game
Harris was 13 of 31, but had 263 yards through the air and four scores. Just bit us on big plays - 20.2 avg yd per reception

so you are saying that nsu posted 9000 was at a game but there was really on 3 or 4 thousand? have things gotten that bad up there they have to juice the numbers?

That makes absolutely no sense. Where did you even get 9,000 from? xeyebrowx

The "3,000 to 4,000" reference was made to last season. But you're trying to turn and twist words in order to stir feces up.

So in every press release we have 9000 people at every game? Be specific...I can't account for the McNeese game because I was not there for that one.
