View Full Version : SEC teams getting "the CAA treatment"

Alabama just won over Tennessee by the skin of their teeth, 12-10 on a last second blocked FG by the Bama defense.

During the post game, the announcers were all over the SEC saying that this game was proof that the SEC is the best conference ever and that the Tide were "the most complete team, offense, defense, and special teams"

I'm sorry, what?

:pumpuke:

This is making me sick, in my mind neither Florida nor Alabama are the "best teams in the country". How many SEC games am I going to have to sit through until people realize that? Tennessee played both really tough and they got smoked by UCLA earlier this year.

I can only imagine the day when there's a playoff system and the SEC get a majority of the teams and the complaints that we make here are amplified. xlolx

TCU is really good. They're taking it to BYU in the first quarter. I don't think there is a best team rather a group of about 8-9 teams that are very equal. The best team really does change week to week this year.

Agreed.

Watching TCU now.

Yeah, that's just stupid. A conference game, no matter how well-played, can't tell you anything about how good that conference is relative to other conferences. Only inter-conference games can tell you that.

Alabama isn't real good. Nowhere near the best team in the country.

Florida is struggling with MSU, 13-10 at the half.

The two most impressive teams so far have been Cincy and TCU imo.

I would add Texas (and while were at it, Pitt) to the mix as well

TCU 31-7 in the 3rd

The Horned Frogs are about as good as any non BCS AQ team i've seen. They have speed, a great QB and a nasty defense.

Wow, the SEC is even hosing their own teams to make Florida and Bama look good.

Florida just pulled a Leon Lett and the refs still gave them the TD. xnonono2x

The SEC is a joke xrolleyesx

Frogs in a rout tonight xthumbsupx

It's nice, but doesn't feel as satisfying given they gave BYU a similar treatment last year

Now, if/when they do that to Utah in a couple weeks.... xrulesx :D xprayx xwhistlex

As for Bama, they've been strong for most of the year, I'm willing to give them a pass in a close game that they did, in fact, win. Their wins haven't been by big margins, but generally strong showings. I'd certainly take the Tide over Texas or Florida, easily

TCU should have a shot at the Title game, but they won't, so I say thank goodness for the playoffs in this level xthumbsupx

Boise State. If they go 13-0 and don't play for it all.. a robbery

IMHO

TCU
BOISE
CINCY
PITT

Four of the most underrated teams in the country. The first three should all be in the top 5...one is.

Cincy is the most impressive team I have seen all year; can't believe I am saying that because I hate everything Cincy. That said, they are just stacked...love their style of play....they have an unreal coach...and that backup QB is amazing.

I dont see Cincy falling off next year...at all.

The SEC is like the Big XII usually is (at least IMO): TOTALLY OVERRATED.

Boise St and Cincy were both top five this week in the BCS rankings. Now, I don't agree with this system either, but it is used to determine the title game, so both of them in the top five says something. At least two of these schools should make BCS bowl games, hopefully some teams are upset, to let one into the national title game.

Boise isn't getting any higher unless Florida, Alabama and Texas all lose in the same weekend, and then a third party wins the SEC (LSU?). If anything, the Broncos lack of schedule strength in the WAC will doom them. Don't be surprised to see an undefeated TCU pass them xtwocentsx

Like they apparently did already xoopsx

This exact scenario happened, and I'm not the least surprised. Boise St. went from #4 in the BCS last week, to #7 this week, being leapt by Iowa, USC and TCU. Unfortunately for Boise St., their WAC schedule will probably hurt their ranking all season.

Wow people how quickly we forget who has won the last four national championships

I love TCU but to talk about the SEC being overrated b/c Tennessee got worked by UCLA is completely forgetting the fact that the BYU team that TCU was throttling was destroyed by a pathetic Florida St. team

I'm not sure who the best team in the nation is, but I'm pretty sure they play in the state of Texas.
