This is one of those games you throw out records and rankings. This is pure southern hatred where every hit is a big hit and every score is a big score. Two fanbases that can't stand one another and argue about which one is more backwards. 9 National Championships and 17 SoCon Championships between the two (9 for App, 8 for GaSo).

App looks to extend their SoCon winning streak to 16 games, which would eclipse the old record of 15 games held by PJ's GaSo team from 1997 to 1999. Ironically enough, that streak was started after GaSo's loss in Boone in 1997 and ended in Boone in 1999.

This win would mean App's SoCon streak would be at over two years. Of course, the last SoCon loss for App was Georgia Southern on Black Saturday, which ended App's 30-game home winning streak.

A loss for GaSo would cripple their playoff hopes and a loss for App would mean they would have to win out to make the playoff (@ Furman, @ Elon)

App holds the edge in the all-time series 12-11-2. But GaSo fans like to remind us that it's been 9-9 since their program was revived. The last three years have come down to the last play and there's no reason to believe it won't happen this year. (hopefully the trend of the road team winning the last three is reversed)

I think GSU could play better defense than they are.

We are spreading them out and that are running cover 0 almost every play. With a QB like Edwards he is gonna find the open man 90% and our WRs are winning their 1 on 1 matchups.

I have thought all season that our 5 wide set is what is setting us up for success. Not many teams can cover 5 guys man to man and still keep a spy on Edwards.

You have to play zone against it but GSU isn't seeing it that way.

Likewise. I felt like this game would really be an indicator of what we're made of this year. Unbelievable offense, which we expected, and the defense stepped up bigtime. I don't care if GSU's offense isn't particularly good...holding a team below 200 total yards is impressive. Armanti put on a show in little more than a half of play with 300+ yards and 3 TD's passing with 61 rushes on 6 carries to boot. Yeah, pretty good day to be a Mountaineer!xthumbsupx

The big picture is this... App has blown past GSU in terms of its overall program in a very short time frame... and I mean completely blown past it: on the field, in the pocketbook, in the stands, in the facilities, in the attitude adn national perception of its program.

Unfortunately for the Eagle faithful, GSUs reputation is known for what was, App's reputation is known for what IS.

If GSU wants to get back even or ahead of App, they will have to do what App did, which is cut the dead wood out of the AD's office and get a real winner in the post; somebody who is dynamic, energetic, a winner, and can create excitement around the program.

Sam Baker has done more to defeat GSU football than the rest of the division did in 25 years and that is a fact.

So #90 did that? I hope the coaching staff saw it and runs the hell out of him or even suspends him for the next game. It is classless and yet another sign of an undisciplined team among the many, many other examples yesterday.

I didn't see him doing that, but he would be the only player aside from the RB that thought it was a good idea to talk smack about our LBs before the game.

For the most part this game was the best experience I have had with GSU fans, I am sure most of the time we have close games and emotions are high, and that is really the mark of a rivalry. Today it just seemed like GSU is ready for a change at the top and not at all happy with their team.
