Will Lamar count as a D-I game for playoffs? If not, McNeese will have to go undefeated outside of its FBS and Lamar game. That is rough. No room for error.

There have been rumors of this not happening. I don't know the source. The series is supposed to be 2010 @ UD, 2011 @ SDSU, 2012 @ UD IIRC. I really hope it doesn't get canceled. It'll be fun for FCS.

I assume App will try to get two FCS teams to play in Boone. I'd love to see Liberty and Coastal come to The Rock, but I don't think Coastal will come back until App agrees to play in Conway. Can't really see that happening, but I would love it since we have a second home at Garden City Beach. I would also like to see App start up a series with SCSU. I think it was a good game last year in the playoffs, and another game with a South Carolina school could help recruiting.

11/06/10 at Georgia State
11/13/10 vs. South Dakota
11/20/10 vs. Oklahoma Panhandle State
Only 3 non-FCS games and 4 games against SLC foes. This will be a challenging schedule for their first football season in 21 years.

UMass hosts Holy Cross on Sept. 4th and plays at Michigan on Sept. 18th. I don't think the third non-conference game has been announced. If we owe Albany or Stony Brook a return game (we were supposed to play at Albany this year but renegotiated it into a home game), it will probably be played Sept. 11th since we like to have our bye weeks after our FBS games.
For the conference schedule, UMass will play Villanova, William & Mary and Towson from the CAA South, two at home and one on the road. Villanova is likely to be one of the home games since they'll play 2 of their 3 CAA North games on the road.

Aside from our usual SoCon foes, I believe that Elon is playing Georgia Tech in 2010. I'm particularly excited because I love triple option offenses. I don't know our other OOC games, but I would assume one would be against Presby as we usually do play them annually, and I would think we may play Liberty as well.

CCU: Away

No dates yet, from what I've heard for Portland State. I do know that we were supposed to play Arizona State in Tempe next year, but that has been moved to 2011. Word is that we have scheduled Oregon next year. Ducks are fun to knock down, but they are willing to play us if the schedules are possible (same as the Beavers). Nothing really definite, but I am thinking we will head down to Davis next year, too. Glanville is hoping for a second money game next year and he is looking at Big 10 or Big 12.

I wasn't aware that you guys are currently scheduled for 4 OOC games already. It definitely seems like Elon plays 1 or 2 Big South teams every season and both Presby and Liberty are games that we enjoy playing because it continues some of the rivalry we had as the Fightin' Christians.

Lamar has still not handled their end of the contract. A pretty embarrassing situation that LU is not making a big deal of. Quite frankly, they are not making a big deal of their new football program to begin with - just absolutely no pub on their web site!

Saweet! Delaware is on the road that day, so I'm headed down to this one. Actually, we're at JMU that day, which looks to be a three hour drive from Norfolk. If by some stroke of luck there's a high noon start for one and a night start for the other, I could conceivably pull an FCS marathon day. If that doesn't work out, Richmond or W&M are also possibilities (no offense to Norfolk St or Hampton, but it's CAA or go home for me).

Will Lamar count as a D-I game for playoffs? If not, McNeese will have to go undefeated outside of its FBS and Lamar game. That is rough. No room for error.
Add to that, we will probably be out of our Field House and into temporary housing because the Field House construction wil be going on.

You all should contact the AD at A&T and travel to Greensboro, NC. That would be a fun game and if fans can make the game, you all will love it, win or lose.

Take Jacksonville St off as everything I have heard is that it was a one game deal. Add Western Michigan as the Colonels will make the trip north in week two after opening at San Diego St. Nicholls is still looking to fill 2 games for weeks 3, 4, or 5 - hopefully both home with one being a sub DI - I did hear a possibility of Bacone being one of those dates.

Replacing NCCU with Elon and adding a decent last team to the schedule would be really nice for us.
BSU, JMU, Elon would be three winnable yet challenging games. And all of that would help build our resume for the first auto-bid season for the Big South...

Will Lamar count as a D-I game for playoffs? If not, McNeese will have to go undefeated outside of its FBS and Lamar game. That is rough. No room for error.
I think Lamar counts as FCS team (not 100% sure) because they officially start their football program in 2010 and they start as FCS team. They are an independant the first year until the Southland Conference can work them into the rotation for all the conference schools schedules (which I think is 2011).

Why do you have to take a cheap shot on me like that? I made a mistake and it was an honest one (especially from a grad student who is struggling to mix sports and schoolwork from another school right now). And I know that Paul Johnson's triple option attack is going to be downright scary when we do play GT...but just because I say I'm a fan of that kind of offense doesn't mean one should assume I don't know the strength of it when used on us.

McN/SLU has no business being on TV. It should always be SFA/SHSU when that game is on. Highest-rated SLC game annually when one - but we can chalk one up to the SFA administration for that knucklehead move that occurs when the game is in Naca!

McNeese was willing to move the game up an hour for TV. They hate moving it up to 2 p.m. or any other time if they can avoid it!xnodx
McN/SLU has no business being on TV. It should always be SFA/SHSU when that game is on. Highest-rated SLC game annually when one - but we can chalk one up to the SFA administration for that knucklehead move that occurs when the game is in Naca!
Well, since we have to fight Lamar now for Golden Triangle recruits, we'll do TV an hour early so the Houston boys Sam is after can see McNeese play and get interested in crossing the Sabine.xsmiley_wix

Your SEC game will not be Tennessee (their schedule is full), but could be Kentucky, Arkansas or Miss St.
Houston could be your CUSA game, but could also be UTEP.

Well, not tonight when we play SLU at 6:00 PM at Cowboy Stadium. I guess its on TV somewhere, but I go to the games so I don't really know until the little man with the headset stands out on the field holding up play and killing momentum every chance he gets. Some other Phoenix Phans have corrected me in that we are playing Georgia Tech in 2013. Hopefully they won't be as good then :D
I don't know but I just love the triple option offense that Georgia Tech and Navy utilize. It reminds me of old-time football, and I find it a very fun challenge to play with GT or Navy in the NCAA Football videogames
Lembo and his Flaming Pigeons did not love the triple option last year when my Terriers brought it town:D

I heard from a person close with the Bentley program that Central Connecticut is opening up with Bentley next year.
I was surprised to hear this--not sure why they would play down (i assume because the NEC gets the autobid next year). The person is pretty reliable I would like to hear from the CCSU side if they know about this.
I haven't heard this yet, but it wouldn't suprise me too much.
This year, CCSU played all 3 non-conference games on the road. We can't seem to find any I-AA team willing to come to New Britain. We need to make $$ on 2 games, and there is a desire to get at least 1 home game. If we can't get a FCS team, we have to buy a D-II opponent, it's that simple. But if Bryant can get Hofstra at home and Albany can get Maine, I don't see why CCSU can't as well.
I'll see what I hear.

The only thing I heard and it was almost 2 months ago, but Coach Fine on his weekly radio show said they were close to signing a deal with Northeastern and New Hampshire (SID is a UNH alum, but was having some problems getting return game), and they were trying to also get another game with Stony Brook and UMass.

I may even try to make it out to South Dakota. I've seen 38 states and that's not one of them.
Just make sure you know that unless you want to drive 5 hours west of Brookings, don't expect to see Mount Rushmore. xoopsx Not saying you didn't know that already, but that seems to be a common mistake amongst people who are not from the Midwest.

Scratch Southern Miss from our 2010 schedule...they bought us out so they could schedule a payday against Georgia...not sure what we're going to do...I'd like to get a sixth home game - preferably against an FCS - rather than play another money game.
By the way, we also play at UL-Monroe - I believe on 9-25.

Ugh... We just really aren't doing ourselves any favors on OOC scheduling. Granted when we scheduled Illinois they were doing well. We better go at least 9-2 next year. Don't know if 8-3 would really cut it with that schedule. On the plus side we will have UNI and SDSU at home.

Judging by this year, I think you'll be just fine at 8-3. UNI is.
Part of that was UNI making a deep run in the playoffs and barely losing to the eventual champion in the semis (who ended up handily winning against Montana). The starting polls this year helped UNI as 3 losses to good teams only dropped them so far. A deep run still doesn't guarantee a good position in the starting polls either. In 2007 SIU lost to Delaware in the semis and started 2008 #11 in the coaches poll. Granted we were losing our head coach and Nick Hill, who had one heck of a year. However, SIU is losing quite a few starters on defense next year...AHHH, so many factors!xrotatehx
9-2 just sounds more safe.

The team who is currently the #2 team in all the land, Alabama, is playing Georgia St in the 1st year of their program, which will be chocked full of freshmen and some JUCO kids??? Could this even be remotely serious? If Alabama doesn't score 140 or more points it'd be just embarassing. xeekx

Will Lamar count as a D-I game for playoffs? If not, McNeese will have to go undefeated outside of its FBS and Lamar game. That is rough. No room for error.
Lamar will count just like SLU did because they will not be considered in transition because they are already in Div I and are just bringing back their program after many years of absence.
