Should be easy - 1997 - Hens end up losing on a last second FG to McNeese in the semis, and the cowboys go on to lose a close title game to the Penguins. nova was #1 for most of the year, with a Finneran-led team, but fall to a crushing loss at home to YSU in the quarters.

1996. We fell behind UNI big time in the Quarters, got back within a TD (not sure how close) and then a muffed punt (I won't say who did it) near the end of the game to end our chance of a comeback.

I think I can speak for most of the GSU folks in saying that we were rooting for App to win in Montana. I can also assure you that the GSU fans were not then, nor have they ever been, scared of App. Respect? Definitely! Scared? Not on your life.
If the rematch had been half as good as the game in October in Statesboro that year it would have been one of the best title games ever. As it was the GSU/Montana game was a helluva game... well, except for the weather.
