Trouble at Jackson State...why did Southern travel to Jackson on Friday anyways? It's a three hour-ish trip. Would make more sense to save money and travel the same day, right?

Either way - Southern's blue jerseys went missing. Have not seen any indication that they have turned up.


JACKSON, Miss. — All along, Southern had planned to wear its new blue jerseys for Saturday’s game against Jackson State.

The Jaguars wore blue jerseys, all right. Just not the blue jerseys they planned on wearing.

Between the team’s walkthrough Friday and their warmups Saturday, four of SU’s new blue game jerseys went missing from Veterans Memorial Stadium, SU spokesman Kevin Manns said.

Equipment manager Derek Price drove home to Baton Rouge and boxed up last year’s home jerseys, which he’d kept in storage.

Just goes to show you the mismanagement of funds at Southern. A three-hour bus trip and they stay in a hotel. A hotel at home. Just ridiculous...glad they cut those two sports to help fund this misuse of funds and help pay Cador (even if he had no chance at UNO job - regardless of comments he has made, which in the long run, will hurt Southern).

Can't wait for the NCAA to change that rule regarding hotels at home.

SFA and TXST are 2 p.m. starts. McNeese is a later start.



Not for NCAA purposes. They count the T&F components as three - indoor, outdoor and XC.



The school's budget is fine. We're one of the tops in the SLC - right behind TXST and SFA. However, while we save money in this regard - we do not do some of the things that other schools in the league do in other places.



I can read that - just going by what the NCAA does.



We apparently had men's tennis at some point - but have not been able to confirm that. It's not listed anywhere nor have we honored any former athletes from the sport - so assuming not. Outside of that, we have not had any sports that are currently not on the program.


Did anyone find the jersey's ????
Maybe they are still in the back of the bus ??

I find this entirely ironic, seeing as materials were stolen from the visitors locker room when NCCU played Southern in 2006. Must be a Southern thing!

Well - Southern had things taken from them this time instead of the other way around. Not sure how SU could have been tied to both - unless it was fans jealous of NCCU's championship rings in 2006 because they never get ones for their own and then wanted the new powder blue jerseys that the Jags were sporting this year - just happened to take them at JSU to make it seem like the Tigers were up to no good...

basically the moral of the story is the game should have been in Baton Rouge where it belongs. xlolx And getting to Jackson on gameday is no walk in the park.

Hell those were the first conference championship rings we'd won in 25 years. Southern has had quite a bit more championship seasons than that. . :D
