Of the games I can mention, we have Portland St. and Southern Utah coming in this year.

I've heard rumors that we may have signed with a contract with one I-A team and are negotiating with another. Also, we talking to some other teams including some Div II teams for a possible another home game if I-AA goes to a 12 game season.

Where is all this talk of I-AA going to 12 games? It was stopped last year and it'd be stopped again. I just don't see it happening.

Thanks for SUU and PSU updates...

Exactly. Eight games listed. The remainder could be home games! We've probably got atleast five home dates next year (3 SLC, 1 Div II and an OOC foe)...

If approved at the NCAA meetings in April, it wouldn't go into effect until 2007. No chance I-AA gives their squads a few months to fill a new hole in their schedules, especially since Div IIs will be locked and such...

I believe we have Southern Utah on our schedule in 2006 rather than South Dakota State. The South Dakota State game is in 2007 if I am not mistaken.

We'll see.

It ain't gonna happen atleast that quick. The NCAA passed it and gave the I-A folks a year because this is football scheduling. This is not McNeese72's t-ball league at the local YMCA we're talking about! Scheduling in April or May for a whole division of football for game in August, Sept or October (more likely) is unheard of...

Sam is looking at two Div IIs already. If you throw a 12th game in for 2006, we'd probably have to get a third I-A or third Div II. It'd be ugly...

Wow. Looking at those schedules it's pretty clear that there is a good chance the SLC auto-bid winner next year could have less than 7 DI wins again. Two I-As and a DII on the schedule make it tough to hit the number.

Just think, TxSt almost didn't get enough to qualify if they didn't escape an OT game against SHSU or if they couldn't knock off a Div II Delta St team that pushed them to the limits...

Going to be a tough season this year for SLC. It should be interesting. I hope we can get some more I-A wins! :)

Hey, what's with the attitude? I'm just telling you what I've heard. It may be right, it may be wrong. A lot of I-AA teams want the 12th game bad.

Like I said, we'll see.

I'm not really sure. Financial considerations are always brought in. If you think about it, we haven't played anyone too far out. Missouri St isn't too far, that they could bus there. Northern Colorado and UTEP were the the farthest west outside of Montana...

I want to say we're trying to work something out with a SWAC school...

We played Miami in 2000 when they had Santana Moss, Dave Campbell, Clinton Portis, the big tightend (forgot his name) and umpteen jillion other future NFL draft picks on their team. Don't remember what conference they were in then. They were probably the best Div I-A team that McNeese has ever played (talentwise, at least).

Campbell ended up with a concussion and Moss a sprained ankle in our game and then they went up to Washington and lost the next week. I think that might have been their only loss in the regular season.

McNeese will open the season vs South Florida in Tampa on September 2nd.

That is why it's coming back for a 2nd vote. The AD's want it. And most NEED it.

The best thing is, it's pissing off the MAC and SubBelt schools because I-AA's are getting the BCS paydays.

Is McNeese going to play ULL? The reason I ask is something your AD has said:

On scheduling UL Lafayette in football
We were dissappointed that an agreement was not reached to play football against ULL in the 2005 season. With the coming change of administration at ULL, we are optomistic that the series can be renewed. This series would benefit all in Southwest Louisiana, and we will strive to get this accomplished for the future.

Not in 06.

Seems our conference is limiting the Div II foes. Brent on Bobcatfans said they got two Div II games this year. I don't know how that's possible unless he considered UCA as a Div II foe. You'd think the Cats would've learned after almost not getting that seven game mark and not having the auto-bid especially since everyone is good for one SLC loss...

I actually like the idea of TxSt scheduling two D-II schools. Assuming UCA is one of the D-IIs were talking about. The schedule should give the team enough playing experience to give the new starters some playing experience, and give the team as a whole time to gell once conference starts.

This is where Sam Houston went wrong this past year IMO. You guys had a talented team, but to tough a schedule early on. What Northwestern State is doing is just plain crazy. No I-AA team should play more than one I-A, much less 3.

UCA is not counted as a Div II school next year. If you guys are playing two Div II schools, you could be in for trouble again as I think your good for two SLC losses next year based on scheduling and I don't think you'll be #1. Would be tough to get into playoffs with those two Div II wins not counting and a more than likely I-A loss, though not certain.

And did it not come close to biting you in the tailend? I recall a tough OT win over SHSU. FYI, UCA is counted as a Div II game after all, so you got two Div II games, one I-A game and a much tougher road schedule than you had last year.

I honestly am concerned the SLC is not going to have a multi-bid next year, instead possibly having a champ that lacks seven Div I wins, but will get to go anyway...

I'm pretty sure UCA is counted as a D-II since this is only their transition year, where they can decide that D-I is not for them and go back to D-II.
