I don't see Holy Cross losing another game... So!! i go way back. Will Holy Cross be allowed to go to the Post Season if they are asked? I remember the 11-0 season and we just stayed home!! I was so pissed!! So has the situation changed?

The Patriot League has recieved an automatic bid the FCS playoffs since 1997. The PL has even had 2 teams in the playoffs before. If HC wins the league they are in.

Actually Bucknell, Georgetown and Holy Cross have never made the playoffs. Bucknell's only PL championship in 96 came just before the auto-bid and same with Holy Cross.

Fordham has been in the playoffs twice, Lafayette 3 times, and Lehigh and Colgate 5 or 6 times each I believe.

No-- the Ivy league has had a post-season ban since its inception in the mid-50's

Yeah been reading on Google. No go for now for the IVY League. Seems to be a hot subject right now though. I bet we see them get an Auto Bid answer in the next year or two based on IVY school vote

Well it appears Ivy coaches and players have been calling for it forever..unfortunantly its all up the Ivy presidents and they dont seem to be in any hurry.

Which 11-0 season? HC was a powerhouse in the 80's and early 90's. The 1987 team, IMO, ranks with the greatest I-AA/FCS teams ever.

And some don't. Tim Murphy, the coach at Harvard, is on record as being against it. I would bet that Yale is also not a proponent as it would water down their annual end of season show down with Harvard. There is an unwritten Ivy tradition that "No game shall be played after Harvard-Yale." You can go on and on about how the Ivys participate in all other NCAA post season playoffs, how it isn't fair to the athletes and fans, etc., etc., but I think you are wrong: you will not see the Ivys with an autobid at anytime in the near future. Certainly not in the next year or two as you indicate.

Maybe most of the Ivy coaches, but certainly not Mr. Murphy of Hahvahd. His match with the Yalies is the endall if you are to believe his interview quotes in past year or so. Playoffs would only cheapen the Hahvahd vs Yale experience.....

HC had scholarships at that time. A precondition of entering the PL, but no other teams had them bdore or since. Arguably that tilted the odds in their favor, but to their credit they beat other teams outside the league that presumably had scholarships at the time, though I do not really know for sure. Certainly it was a very good team back then. The last several years are the only time HC has rose to prominence in the league since giving up schollies.

and lost to Western Carolina 28-21.

Western Carolina had beaten Colgate the week before. It should be noted that Colgate was without their All-American rb Rich Erenberg who would go on the play for the Steelers.

Except for three notable exceptions. Harvard has actually campaigned against it (as has head football coach Tim Murphy), Yale's fans have been campaigning to jump to FBS instead of messing with the playoffs (I think Carm Cozza has been active in this endeavor), and Princeton is simply quiet about everything.

Yeah I had to sit thru a 48-10 disaster in Worcester in early Nov. 1991. Someone pointed out that that year was the last of the schollies. Course we didnt have a good team in 1991 anyway.

I'm really stretching my memory here, but I know I had (and possibly still have somewhere) a video cassette containing the highlights of the 1987 HC season.

The video included highlights of each of the games during that season. The only game with a close score was Army, and the Cadets scored two late touchdowns or that would have been a blowout as well.

The one thing from the video that stands out in my memory is at the very beginning. (I hope my memory is accurate.) It shows HC scoring a touchdown to take a 7-3 lead over Army in the first game. Then the announcer says something to the effect of: "it was the only time HC would trail in a game during the entire season."

That is domination.
