I would offer two Colgate players:

Jordan Scott at tailback. 1364 rushing yards, 10 TDs, averaged 124 ypg (and didn't start until the fourth game of the season).

Steve Jonas at offensive tackle. Started all 11 regular season games as right tackle for the Raiders.

No, Coen was a Red-shirt freshman recruited and signed by UMass last year.

You're thinking of Hawaii transfer Taylor Humphrey (http://umassathletics.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/humphrey_taylor00.html)

He seperated a shoulder during spring (2005) practice. He ended up third string after Coen and Day.

With Day graduating, Humphrey should be in the mix this spring.

Jake Phillips of W&M certainly deserves mention among the freshmen QBs.

10 games / 145.82 efficiency / 123-192 64.1% / 1,564 yds. 12 TDs / 183 rushing for 8 TDs / 7 Ints.

Lehigh's Jason Leo had a very good year punting--especially with the number he placed inside the 20. Not sure of his overall stats but his net was good as he has nice hang time. Also has a strong placekicking leg, but didn't really kick until the Lafayette game (4 of 4).

4 of his interceptions came in his first-ever game. Also, when you are down big like we were in several games, you tend to force things. You still can't deny he has the ability. I'll put together a highlight reel if you wish. Like when he lit UD up...

He played in all games, but he didn't see much action in the first 2 games. He won his starting position by consistently doing well in practice and in games. His stats would have been much better. While I will be focusing on Georgetown, I'm hoping to be able to drive up a few miles to catch one of Towson's games. How do they look for next season?

Towson returns to Colgate's schedule as the CAA game those years (with UMass too in 2007). Maybe Towson will be the CAA big gun those years? :eek: We've never lost to Towson.... Seeing as our freshman class was darn nice, those games could be great ones! :xmas:

Let's not get too carried away with pre-season predictions (although we sincerely appreciate the sentiment). Hoping he stays healthy, focused and keeps the grades up. Then we'll see how much he's on the field and how well he plays.
