Richmond Preserves its Hold on No. 1
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Richmond turned four fumble recoveries into 24 points en route to a 47-0 victory over Hofstra Saturday, helping the Spiders to maintain their hold on the No. 1 ranking this week. The defending national champions have now won 12 straight games, a new school record. Richmond (3-0) received 25 first-place votes and 673 points overall.
There was little change to the top 10 this week, as all 10 teams either picked up victories or were idle. Villanova (3-0) remained at No. 2 after its 14-3 victory at Pennsylvania. The Wildcats received one first-place vote.
Montana (3-0), Northern Iowa (2-1) and William & Mary (3-0) rounded out the top 5.

Stunning. 4 of the top 6 are from the CAA South, and probably very deserving of their ranks.
I'd like to know the names of the crackheads who gave Hofstra their two votes? Was it Chuck Priore and Marty Fine?

Looks pretty good to me. As I recall, more accurate than last year. I am glad to see teams like UNI, W&M, McNeese and Holy Cross rewarded for performance.

What a joke!!!!!
Maine gets beat by UA, yet the Danes get no votes while Maine leads ORV at #26 unoffically????
What's worse is NEC wins are only valuable for non-conference foes. Once the regular season starts, they magically become meaningless.
Hofstra??? Colgate??? Really?

UCA beats WKU solidly, and had a chance to win at Hawaii. They are still the team to beat in the SLC.
Weber, I would agree with. One win, vs the bottom BSC team isn't justification for a move.
SIU/SDSU shouldn't move either due to their wins. May have gained a spot or so due to losses above. But, IIRC, all losses top 20 were to FBS teams.

sorry, but there's no comparing a Sun Belt and a WAC to one of the better ACC teams.

UCA was a 3 point favorite in the game! As far as I am concerned WKU should receive some brownie points for playing up xlolxxlolx

Silly aceinthehole, Maine is in the CAA, thats good for a top 15 ranking right there. You must have forgotten, they upset St Cloud, yes THAT St Cloud!xrolleyesx xlolx
But on a serious note, yes, I agree with you whole heartedly.

I, as a McNeese fan, appreciate you post and feelings, but many at McNeese feel we are still a little unknown yet. Yes, we feel good about winning a game at "The Rock," but we need to see how McNeese and Appst. do against their conference opponents to really know how good our win was in Boone. McNeese feels it will be extremely difficult to go undefeated this year in conference. I believe our last two games will be very very difficult to win (Texas St. on the road and Central Arkansas at home). I think beating SFA at their place may be a tall order also. Their offense is putting up some big numbers!
We won't know much until the Saturday before Thanksgiving! Of course all we are thinking about right now is our game with Tulane this weekend in the Super Dome.

it's rare that it happens, usually I think the AGS poll is most accurate.

11 votes!! A few more big wins and we can get a chance to enter the polls. But the next "big" games we have are SFA, Cal-Poly, UC Davis, and Central Arkansas.

I've tried to refrain from commenting on the Coaches and TSN polls so far this year, but...
Does a 2-1 team whose one loss was by one point to the number one team in the country on a blocked chip shot field goal as the clock ran out rightly deserve to be in the ORV between PV A&M and Penn? I'm just sayin'. xeyebrowx

True. A victory over Idaho State is nothing to brag about, but both of WSU's losses came against FBS schools, both of which the Wildcats had within their grasp to win and gave away. Colorado State and Wyoming aren't exactly cupcake games. Line WSU up against a soft FCS squad for it's opening games like many schools do (i.e. Montana), and they would be sitting at 3-0 right now.

Seems like a down year in the SoCon. Their "three best teams" according to this poll are a combined 3-5, with two schools having losing records (App St and Wofford).
I know the FBS games don't help the records, but still... ouch.
I bet either Furman or Georgia Southern makes a move in the SoCon before it is all said and done - or maybe even Samford? xeekx I'll be having fun watching that conference from afar.

Agreed. However, the five losses are to ECU, Wake, S. Fla, Wisconsin and McNeese St....all good squads (ie middle of their conferences or better).
The SoCon does look more up for grabs in years past. It will be interesting to see who separates themselves from the pack... the Sammy-App game this weekend should tell us something.

Well, I'm not sure which is worse. One person putting Hofstra at #24 or two people putting them at #25. Same goes for Harvard. 11 points? xcoolx

I don't understand getting smacked up by 47 (could have been MUCH worse if UR kept their foot on the pedal) and garnering any votes. As the season goes by, that SBU win is going to look weaker and weaker.

Why how else can they get the remaining two CAA teams in the poll? I felt for certain that since UMass let URI score more than once ...that would do it. Oh well, give them some time ...they will have the entire conference in the poll soon. xlolx

Agreed. Florida State is a far more difficult opponent than Wyoming and Colorado State, but wins over schools like Georgia IT and Alabama A&M don't excactly scream Top-10 ranking.

Perhaps not, but I think our 1-2 is a lot stronger than your 1-2 :)
