Those are great pictures. I heard where Jerry Moore said a NFL scout told him that the new ASU facilities would be top 40 in the nation. I believe it after seeing that!

You know, $50M is a lot of money, but to get everything you just said for that, and considering the pictures posted, that seems like a pretty good deal.

It looks nice for sure....

Curious, because I don't know. Is this paid for with tax money or with private donations, well, or both?

Beautiful facilities. xbowx xbowx xbowx Congrats App fans.

I look at this and see where Delaware could and should have been twenty or thirty years ago had we had a competent AD in place. We'll get there, but the wait is excruciating. xmadx

The locker pics: You know...I got to be honest....that was the only thing I didnt like. Dont get me wrong...as a player, I would feel, "Damn...look at that good looking player...I can play."

But...it seems a bit self-absorbed to have a pic on every locker of the player.

That said...I still love the whole kit and koobdle of that facility. Top-notch!

Actually, I could be wrong here, but I believe those pictures on the lockers might be of the former athletes that purchased the lockers. From what I've read, the locker room was completely financed by the Former Players Association.

Ahhhh...that is VERY COOL then. And would make sense because there is a gold plaque in each locker-- my guess is that it states the locker was donated by such and such.

Reminds each player of the players that came before them that helped the current guys get this stuff.

AWESOME, IF THAT IS THE CASE!

50% private donations, 50% student athletic fees. Some of the students complained with the increase in the athletic fee, but ASU's athletic fee is still lower than some of the larger non-BCS programs in the state, even some that don't have football. Those are the students that should complain.

I think the pictures are current players and the gold plaque in the back is the name of the former player who donated for the locker.

i think youre right, because the second locker from the right is a player wearing the "throwback" uniforms if im not mistaken...and if they graduated last year, i know good and well they dont have enough money to donate to buy a locker..xcoffeex

Spot on.

I was in SGA when all of this was first proposed and ultimately put into place fee wise. The student athletic fees at ASU are no where near some schools, UNCC in particular at the time.

I would have to say, the difference in how the project was run and completed, compared to how it was proposed, seemed to be night and day. Cobb really deserves all of the credit and more that we can give him for getting this done. What has he brought us over the years? Top facilities, new sponsors, better FBS OOC games, headlining FCS games with McNeese, Montana, and JMU. The place needs to be named "The Cobb Tower".

Actually, I don't want any other schools to get any ideas.....Cobb is horrible and I am glad we can keep him out of everyone else's hair.....xwhistlex

Ugh, some of the students in the UNC system are flat out whiners. UNC schools are a flat out steal when you look at other states.

Curious, which schools have higher fees? I am assuming UNCW and UNCC would be two of those mentioned?

Saint3333
September 11th, 2009, 02:32 PM
UNCC, ECU, UNCA, and some of the HBCUs.

UNCW was within $30 if my memory is correct.

But I agree the NC university system has some of the best buys in the nation as evidenced by Kiplinger's annual report. UNC, NCSU, ASU, UNCW, UNCC, etc. are usually in the top 50.

Looks fantastic and well-deserved! McNeese is breaking ground Sept. 17 on a nice expansion of the current field house - adding a second story and a redo of the ground level. Hope it helps recruiting.

From the standpoint of soliciting donations App did a great job. Somewhere in all that new construction is a brick with our names on it. Even the little folks got the opportunity to be in on the "naming" opportunities. They sold football lockers, other sport lockers, and walkway bricks in addition to practice facilities and fields.

I'm proud to be a Mountaineer.

Looks fantabulous. As for the cost, $50M was the original number, but it's certainly beyond that now. I don't know that anyone has the final number yet, but it's more than $50M.

With all these nice complements let's not forget that winning makes it a lot easier to get the donations.xnodx

Also, when Mr. Cobb came onboard I remember him saying, " If you want to play First Class, you have to do everything First Class." xthumbsupx

It's easier to raise money at Appy these days than it may have been in the past considering the absolutely fantastic run they have had the last 4 years.
