Tuscaloosa (Ala.) American Christian four-star quarterback Chris Smelley, the nation’s No. 9 pro-style signal-caller, committed to USC moments ago at a home town press conference. The 6-foot-2, 213-pounder chose the Gamecocks over offers from Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss, Louisville, NC State, Oregon and others. My brother goes to Bama and said Smelley is a punk. He said he is mainly mad that Bama did not offer him anything. Since he is not going to Bama, don't be surprised if Tim Tebow comes to Bama. Mike Shula does have the last visit before Tebow announces. (Tuesday, one of the ESPN stations)

97 TD passes and more than 7500 yards passing with a 62% comp percentage all in the past two years. I'll take all the punks you can find with those stats.

Just saying what I heard. I know that he is good. He has to be good for Steve Spurrier to recruit him.

I'd be interested in knowing what kind of competition was involved...

ACA is in Class 1A and if i remember correctly only lost one game which was in the playoffs. I haven't lived in Alabama in a while so I could not tell you how good the competiiton was.

Tebow committed to Florida today. Shula may have wished he'd have offered Smelley a couple of years from now.

Out.

I think Bama could use some better offensive linemen over a QB. I think they have a transfer from Miami that jas two years left. But Shula will take a ton of heat over this. He let a homegrown recruit slip through his fingers and commit with Spurrier and now Tebow is headed to Gainesville.

Bama has a OL in Adre Smith. We haven't signed him yet, but from what I have heard he likes Bama and so does his mom. He is the second best recruit in the nation. He is unbelievable.

The Hoover Coach said Tebow couldn't displace John Parker Wilson anyway. Wilson did play for Propst at Hoover. Tebow's team was beaten by Hoover early this year.

From watching that game and watching Wilson in High School I would agree. Wilson is just as athlectic and makes better quick decisions. But in the prefect world all D-I teams in Alabama except JSU will go winless every year.
