The Carolina Panthers brought in free-agent WR Dexter Jackson in for a visit on Tuesday, Scout.com has confirmed through a league source.

Jackson was selected in the second-round of the 2008 draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jackson was known for his speed coming out of college, but never developed at all as a receiver for the Buccaneers last season. He didn't catch a single pass, but started to show progress as a kickoff returner.

The Panthers have probably the worst depth at receiver in the NFL, so it wouldn't be a surprise if they signed him. What should help the former Appalachian St. star receiver get signed sooner rather than later is that he still has practice squad eligibility left.

Not yet. I would be surprised if someone picks him up unless it is Detroit, Oakland, or another struggling team.
