My picks for the week:

Albany @ UMASS - Albany played poorly last week and gave away a win at GSU. UMass has some confidence coming into this week and definitely won't be overlooking Albany. Oh my how far we've come since 2005 (41-0 loss for Albany with 3 SAFETIES! xmadx). This is a nailbiter but it means more for Albany and I think McCarty will be back in full strength. Also - will anyone be ready to deal with Drew Smith?
Bryant vs. Hofstra - Bryant is a couple years away, but will keep it close in the first 3 quarters.
CCSU @ William & Mary - W&M is good. CCSU is good. W&M is just a little better. I'd say the Tribe by 10.
Duquesne @ Nicholls State - Duquesne is decent, but they still can't hang with full scholly teams on the road.
Monmouth @ Coastal Carolina - this is my long shot pick of the week. Sinisi has a monster game and keeps CCU off the field. Low scoring - 14-7 game
RMU @ Bucknell - RMU is better than Duquesne.
Sacred Heart @ Holy Cross - Sacred Heart lost to Marist. Enough said.
SFPA vs. Morehead State - SFPA surprised me last week and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't a fluke.
Wagner @ SUNY Maritime - I have to pick Wagner right?


This is indeed a tough week for the NEC.

Albany @ UMass - Danes were impressive, as I expected. Tough loss down at GSU. Minutemen hacve 1 game under their belt, and I think that's just enough to hold of UA at home. Another heartbreaker.

Bryant vs. Hofstra - Bryant gets home cooking and a CAA team to boot. They didn't really seperate themselves from SCSU last week, and the Dutch are bigger, faster, stronger.

CCSU @ William & Mary - CCSU was able to press and play man coverage vs. slower players. Central was better prepared and more conditioned than LU. W&M will have all those advantages on the Blue Devils this week, but we put up a "respectable" loss.

Duquesne @ Nicholls State - Nice win for the Dukes last week, but this is a much tougher opponent, on the road no less.

Monmouth @ Coastal Carolina - These teams have had some close battles, but I think it may take another week for the Hawks to gel. Coastal is a good program, and its hard to expect a win on the road.

Robert Morris @ Bucknell - A very good performance at VMI, and the Dukes win over Bucknell tells me this is RMU's game to lose. I expect the Colonials to inch out a win.

Sacred Heart @ Holy Cross - I still expect SHU to put up some points on the scoreboard, but they don't have the defense or experience to handle the Crusaders in this one.

Saint Francis vs. Morehead State - The Flash get off the snide at home!! A "must win" before they head out for a beating at UNI.

Wagner @ SUNY Maritime (Thurs Game) - A loss here would be crushing. Sad part is this game is likley to be very, very close.

Bryant vs. Hofstra - Being a homer, Bryant is 19-2 at home over the last 4 years and 1 game this year. I am hoping Hofstra is thinking about the next few weeks
CCSU @ William & Mary - CCSU had a great win, but W&M is going to be too strong at home
Duquesne @ Nicholls State NSU had a bad game last week, Duquesne had a good game, but they are not there yet and its a long trip.
Monmouth @ Coastal Carolina - I think this is a toss up, CCU looked pretty good last week, giving it to the home team.
RMU @ Bucknell - Bucknell lost, RMU almost beat a decent VMI, I think RMU takes this one
Sacred Heart @ Holy Cross - Holy Cross is just too good
SFPA vs. Morehead State - they are at home, they played well last week, I think this is a win for SFPA (don't let us down!)
Wagner @ SUNY Maritime (Thurs Game) - Wagner better win this game... Stonehill is a decent DII team, is Maritime even a decent DIII team?

All i know, the HU defense looked good against SBU, the offense looked out of sync and the kicking game is still an issue. HU cannot afford to overlook anyone. Like Jo Gard told us after a sloppy practice back in the day, "You guys need to work harder. I've got news for you fellas, you ain't that f'ing good!" in his south jersey drawl. xlolx

Only picked 2 NEC teams, Dukies in a reach, and the other this strange Wagner game. I'm puzzled why so many favor RMU and SFPA, but that's why this stuff is fun. And, it won't bother me to be wrong about Albany, CCSU, or (particularly) Monmouth. Each should be viable late. xcoolx

Monmouth @ Coastal Carolina Sorry folks, but I was at the game last year. The game wasn't as close as the final score. Ace, this is only the 2nd time we have played and we lost 26-7 last year and we didn't score till 5:30 left in the game.

I want RMU to win and believe they can. If Bucknell wins then a lot of pressure is going to start heading towards the football program since the Dukes beat Bucknell. But a win here makes everyone happy. This will be a tough game and it will take a Defensive score or a huge Special Teams play to wins this game for the Colonials
