Honestly, why are they still a BCS conference? This is in no way, a smack on the CAA, I was pulling for your guys. But, wow, the ACC sucks it up.

Teams can have their ups and downs through the years... so can conferences. Which conference would be consistently better than the ACC that is better qualified to be a "BCS conference."
We all know the ACC is a basketball conference anyways...

UVA and Duke were gonna be bottom feeders anyways this year. Not taking anything away from the CAA either but even though the ACC has had down years of late, UVA and Duke were not really expected to be competitive in the conference this year anyways and saying the ACC sucks doesn't reflect on the upper tier of ACC teams this year.

I still think UNC is going to be very good by the end of the year.

Are they really as bad as the Big X? Iowa, Ohio State, and Wisconsin all looked bad this week. And Virginia and Duke were pretty much expected to be lower tier ACC teams.

UVa and Duke really suck. It's nice to see the cream of the crop of the FCS get over on the BCS. If Mathews ans JMU would take the Maryland game seriously, they could beat them. they are young and prolly think this is an easy rehab over the embarrassing loss to Cal. But JMU won't, and play them safe.
...which, is smart on MM.

Wholeheatedly disagree, the ACC has performed miserably in BCS bowls. There is a lot of parity in the ACC and usually that makes teams better, but it hasn't carried over. They had 2 wins over FBS teams (one win was between two ACC schools), which is exactly how many wins the FCS has over the ACC this weekend.
UVA and Duke do suck, but being in a BCS conference, they should be more competitive against FCS schools, especially William & Mary (proud of you Tribe). It's not a question of which conference should "replace" the ACC in the BCS, it's why are they part of the BCS. The BullCrapSeries doesn't have to have 6 conferences, and this is also a black eye on the BCS. Their "cream of the crop" conferences are not as "stout" as they should be. That includes the ACC and Big X.

No doubt about that. I enjoyed that, it's always a good day when FSU loses. xthumbsupx

Silly ASUM. The Big10 is 0-6 in BCS Bowls in the last 3 years. Kick them out too? The Big East really isn't worth a darn these days either. And the Pac10 is really the Pac1. Maybe just have the BXII champ and SEC champ play for the title. xrolleyesx

No, it's an indictment on the BCS overall, that it keeps mediocre "big time" programs and keeps out good "small time" programs. The ACC, Big X, and heck even the Big East, if their champions can't perform well and aren't ranked high, why should they deserve an automatic BCS bid (this goes for all of the Big Six) over any non-BCS FBS team that has proven they are a great team? Give me a break.
Silly 89Hen, the BCS is a farce and the ACC is showing why. As someone who grew up in ACC country, I meant this thread to rip on the ACC. I find it funny that you are defending the BCS and the ACC considering you [should] know the value of the FCS playoffs. xrolleyesx

Since the BCS began. The ACC has won only two BCS bowls.
In contrast since the post ACC-Raid, the much maligned Big East has won 3 BCS bowls.
I'm not trying to say that the Big East is a power conference like the SEC or the Big 12 south but, when you get down to it the ACC has been an underperformer in a big way.
If I were Boise State fan or a fan of one of the quality MWC schools I would be pretty irate.
In short the BCS is a total joke.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for playoffs for I-A but the conferences do rise and fall in strength. To think the ACC will always be this bad is to ignore history IMO.

Where did I say they always will be this bad? However, I think (as most conferences have one or two dominant teams--some more) the ACC has not performed as well, overall, as other conferences not invited to the BCS Auto Party. Again, this was intended to be smack. I put it here because it was "other sports" whereas the smack thread is for FCS only.

1) I guess you'll never get it. xsmhx
2) "Why are they STILL..." indicates based on past performance.
3) Seriously, I don't get your love for the ACC/ BCS.

What don't I get? You think the ACC should have their automatic bid taken away. So should the Big East and Big 10. And the MEAC, OVC, Patriot and Southland in I-AA. How about the NFC South and NL West?

Dude, take a chill pill. Did you not see where I said that my "alpha post" was smack? In other words, tounge-in-cheek. Good Lord, Hen we usually agree but calm down. All I wanted to do was rip on the ACC and bring up the fact that they suck. Generally, when doing things like that, hyperbole is a useful tool. Get over it.
AND, the BCS doesn't have to have six conferences...I stand by that statement.

too much football left for that to be the point. Alabama did everyone a favor last year. They exposed Clemson as pretenders. The game this year wasn't like that. The fate of the ACC right now rests on VaTech, UNC, GaTech, FSU, and Miami in no particular order. FSU and Miami seem to be on the rise again (we'll know for sure after the season).

I've had a great week breaking the balls of my ACC/Maryland friends here in Fredrock, MD bragging about the CAA's 2-1 record in head to head games this year. Hopefully JMU won't fck it up and lay an egg against a very poor Maryland team.
