First off, I'm not ashamed to say, I root for Notre Dame. Screw the rest of you. :p
I know, it's only Nevada, but I'm really happy to see ND players excited on the field. They are dominating them like a top 25 team should. xthumbsupx

I cheer for "old Notre Dame" too, and this game was fun to watch. I haven't seen an Irish team with this much confidence in a few seasons.

I will say this about Notre Dame this year. There is more legit NFL talent on this team than any in the last 12-13 years. What that is worth i do not know but more guys on this squad will be playing on Sunday's than that of 2006. The schedule is favorable so a run is very possible. How good they actually are i don't know but if all stay for next year they'll have their best team since Holtz in '95.

Weis certainly should shoulder some of the blame for the last few seasons, but he really was dealt an empty hand when he took over for Willingham. Willingham is a nice guy, but can't recruit worth a damn.
If nothing else, if Weis had held his ego in check early on, people wouldn't have been as hard on him as they are now. I think he'll go on to have a good, strong run as head coach for the Irish.

I'm a fan of Notre Dame as well. I was playing as them in last year's NCAA Football (2009) game, and right now I'm rocking a 10-0 with them in Dynasty mode (All-American difficulty). Got a potential 11-0 #5 ND vs. 10-0 #3 USC matchup in a couple of matches. The thing that amazes me is that the O-line in the game is so much (exponentially) better than the O-line protecting Clausen last year. I'm playing with some teams that are better then Notre Dame as well in my dynasty but I feel like I have better chemistry with the Weis offense and the Tenuta defense...don't know why.
Sorry that was off-topic...just a little excited.

Have never liked them, and I never will. EVER. NEVER NEVER EVER.
With that said, for this season, well they finally scheduled 'down', and they do have some talent, so they should win 8-9 games.
And that means, since they 'travel well', they'll get another BCS bowl game, and hopefully like all the years in the past, they will get smacked and humiliated in said BCS bowl game!! Haha.
Maybe they meet up with an Alabama/LSU in the Sugar Bowl or something.

Notre Dame hasn't really scheduled down imo. Their schedule is made 7-8 years of a head of time. A number of the teams that are traditionally strong are struggling right now. With that said USC, Michigan State, @ Pitt and Boston College is a very solid core group of games. Plus Michigan, Navy, UCONN and an improving Washington and Stanford. There's only 2 true cupcakes, Nevada and WSU and even Nevada isn't terrible. I think by the end of the year it might up being a lot better than originally thought. I see no way Michigan is as bad as they were last year. I expect them to be where Notre Dame was last year.
I don't think there's any denying the talent has vastly improved. If Weis has finally figured out how to win at the college level i think they can finally win a BSC game. Maybe not this year but certaintly next year if everyone stays.

I think there's a couple factors there. There's obvious talent on this team and Weis knows he has to win. So if he wants to keep his job they better win. Talent alone should count for 8 wins this year. If Weis can finally get the Irish to play at a conisistant level and win a big game then they really could be a threat. The soph and fr. class are flat out legit. Freshman Manti Te'o is going to be one of the top 5 lb's in football if he stays healthy. How Weis stole him from Carroll's backyard is beyond me.

Yes, but they have a huge following nationwide. I think if you're Irish Catholic you are required to sign a pledge to always love Notre Dame before they'll give you communion.
I have an uncle and several cousins who are Notre Dame alumni and let me tell you, the ND love runs wide and deep in my family. Which is a very large Catholic family, so that's saying something.

CBS has a love affair with the SEC. ABC has a love affair with USC. ESPN has a love affair with the flavor of the week.

I'll agree about that. Florida's last trip outside of the South was something like 1993 when they went to and lost at Syracuse. Since then, they've not left the South - ever. Amazing that they never get dinged for scheduling like that.
And I'll even throw a shot at the SEC as well - you rarely see an SEC team travel outside of the region, and when they do, it's a mixed bag of results. Couple that with most bowl games being in the SEC region, and I'll say the SEC, while still the best conference in the country, does get a fair amount of help from almost never playing on the road outside the region.

Florida could shoot themselves in the foot this year, the computer people are already throwing out scenarios that an undefeated UF could not overtake USC & Texas because of their weak schedule if they all go undefeated.
Granted there is a ton of football to play before we get that far but keep in mind there's no Bama or Ole Miss on UF's schedule & this is the weakest the SEC East has been in a long time, UGA & UT are both down.
If you want to get rid of the BCS, denying Tim Tebow the chance to defend the NC with an undefeated season might help. Plus, it'd be worth the price of admission to see Urban Meyer campaign again but this time get shut out. If you wanna change the status quo, piss the SEC off.

Notre Dame has played Tennessee a few times in the recent past, and even when Tennessee was very good. I think they split a 4 game series or ND even won a 5 game series against them. Tennessee is one of the few SEC teams that you'll see travel outside of the region. And when they do, like with most SEC teams, they find playing on the road OOC to be much more difficult than they thought it would be. But like others have said, you very rarely see an SEC team (and in cases like Florida amost never see them) play a significant OOC game outside the region.
