What's everyone's take on this? Oklahoma's baseball coach resigned due to alleged racial remarks. And this was not a shabby ball coach here. Oklahoma has always had a great program, even winning a national title in 1994. Cochell had been around since 1991 and kept OU's program among the top brass in the Big 12. NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma baseball coach Larry Cochell resigned Sunday, two days after reports surfaced of alleged racial remarks he made during two off-camera interviews to ESPN.

The longtime coach submitted a letter of resignation to president David Boren, who had met hours before with athletic director Joe Castiglione and members of the university's black community on the matter.

Boren accepted the letter and said Castiglione has designated Sunny Golloway as interim baseball coach for the rest of the season.

Tuesday, before the telecast of the Oklahoma-Wichita State game on ESPN2 and ESPNU, Cochell used a racially insensitive term in off-camera interviews with ESPN to describe Sooners freshman outfielder Joe Dunigan III, an African-American.

What an idiot- he should no better than to drop the "N-bomb" especially in front of a reporter.
