SUU, Dixie State Resume Long-Dormant Rivalry
A neighborhood rivalry that has been dormant since Southern Utah University became a four-year school 46 years ago resumes Thursday night when the Thunderbirds open their season against Dixie State.
Southern Utah and Dixie played regularly when both were junior colleges, but this will be the first meeting between schools located only 50 miles apart since 1963.
The Thunderbirds hope to continue the progress they made last season under first-year head coach Ed Lamb, who guided Southern Utah to a 4-7 record in 2008.
